We're trying to trade a bag of rocks for an NBA superstar or near superstar. There are only two options. We either convince Portland that our bag of rocks is a bag of gold nuggets, or we're going to have to absorb someone else's junk to secure assets that do interest Portland.
The problem is that our offer has two main components, Tyler Herro and some picks. Tyler isn't nearly good enough to be the centerpiece of a trade for Dame, and our 1st round picks are almost guaranteed to be non-lottery picks. The truth is that if Portland swaps Dame for our assets, the GM should get fired on the spot.
Idk what the offer is, but Herro, Jovic, JJJ, two-three firsts, plus Lowrys fat expiring is not a “bag of rocks”.

I really think they want him playing out his contract with them, and retiring a Blazer.

They could always send him home to wait until a deal gets done.
The drama of sending a 33 year old franchise player home so that young guys can get shots up is insanity. Dame will destroy that organization from his couch. There will be nothing left.
Fans don't have that kind of loyalty to players. Heat fans have convinced themselves that Blazer fans will turn on their team if they don't do right by Dame. Our own history should tell you different. Blazer fans aren't going to be happy if Dame gets what he wants, they are going to be happy if Cronin rapes the Heat or some other organization like Danny Ainge did when he shipped out Gobert and Mitchell. That's what Blazer fans want.

Honestly, if JJJ and jovic shows some more progress throughout the summer, making a trade that involves both of them will be quite an expense for the Heat. Yes, Damian Liliard is that guy, he is generational, top 75 player.
But if you told me you can just trade lowry a first and filler for harden and keep all our guys.. and become so deep.. that we have herro jjj robinson and jovic off the bench.. just think about that..

I hate Harden, But if we can keep JJJ and Jovic and Martin and trade for a good PG instead of Lilard - i'd go for that way before I give up all these ridiculous packages for Dame.

1. An inefficient scorer who only plays one half of the floor.
2. 2 mid to late 1st round round guys who have never done a single thing in the NBA.
3. 3 mid to late 1st round picks.
4. And expiring contract that doesn't really matter to them because free agents don't go up there in the best of times and sure as hell aren't going to Portland to play on a rebuilding team.
Would you accept that offer for Jimmy? Would you accept that offer for Bam?
I know we wouldn't because we wouldn't give up Bam for Dame or Durant.

It is and its not, depending if were the only offer in town. Which is the predicament they are in. Were essentially offering .45 cents on the dollar, other teams can give them as high as .80 cents on the dollar, which is the most they can get. They are upset because he onky wants Miami thus have to take less than half of what lillard is worth. If your a CEO and you are reviewing the landscape on a garranteed deal to loae an asset at less than half its cost but theit are othera out there you can go get but you can't cause some senior executive who was has been in the company for 30 years is hell bent on taking the one on the table. You say fck you and your years of service im gonna do right by the company and try and come upnas best as I can even if it means holding on to the asset that depreciates every year.

Of course not, we aren’t rebuilding. Heat has the best offer, Heat has the only offer. Portland can delay all they want.

That's beyond a fair deal for a 33 YO guard making tons of money AFTER declaring he only wants to play for us.
We keep Jovic and JJJ, their inclusion will make this a bad deal for us at that point.
You offer this and live with the results. Let's see the Blazers get a better offer from some other team and paint themselves as the most ungrateful organization in the league.
That's really the thing here. If we get Portland 4FRPs and expiring contracts, I really don't see other teams around the league competing with that especially if Philly aren't offering Maxey. Philly aren't getting 3 additional picks for James Hardens expiring. Plus I do not buy another team with tons of picks like Utah, San Antonio or NYK coming in and offering 5FRPs if Dame's adamantly telling them I don't want to play for you. This going to end up being Herro, Lowry, Jovic, our 2FRPs and likely 2FRP swaps and they'll use Herro to get them 2 more picks
Why are you giving them 5 FRPs, 2 swaps, and a SRP or two?
Herro(2 FRP), Lowry(1-2 SRP), Jovic (1 FRP), and 2 FRP swaps!?
That’s a way overpay for an old guard making crazy $$… this is what I keep telling you all in here!!! Y’all too desperate to sell the farm for the next 7-10 years for a 2-3 year window.

Harden is an above average pg with passing abilities and a much better scorer than Gabe. Hes not the defensive player.. but the only player we lose getting him would be lowry a first and probably a second rounder.. in my proposal..
Now if philadelphia can get powell and morris then yea, thats a way better offer. But we wouldnt lose any of herro jjj jovic or martin with my trade proposal, we would be so deep. And we dont take on any trash cintracts like Nurkic or Simmons.
Also harden is an expiring ..

About Simmons - (why are we even discussing him?) - He's broken not only mentally, but physically. He has sirous back issues. Those don't tend to go away.
Besides that - he's just an awful basketball fit - even in his prime. We can't have a 40Mil non shooter, it makes zero sense. If that cost of Lilard is taking Simmons - just don't bother getting Lilard and find another target.
We're not the desperate party here - stop trying to burn everything down and giving everything up just to get Lilard.
33 YO Lilard is not prime Wade, he's not our savoir and we don't need one.
You get a good deal or you move on.

We gotta trust Riley made a good faith offer that was a fair deal for both sides
Not our fault POR is being stupid.
Maybe Portland is just going through stages of grief. They're in Denial right now. Maybe we just gotta wait for "acceptance" lol

None of us know what we're really offering, but after Dame declared he only wants to play here - I hope to god we're not giving up the promising rookies ON TOP of 4 picks ON TOP of Herro and Martin ON top of more swaps.
Lilard is a good player, he's not 26YO Durant. Some of ya'll need to chill.

It's not cap space for free agents, it's cap space to take back bad salaries with picks attached. It's how the Thunder have added about 3+ extra firsts outside of the original trades to PG and Westbrook.
You get out of those long term and expensive deals from your stars and use that cap space for Al Horford, then for Kemba Walker, then for Derrick Favors, and next thing you know, three more first round picks, not to mention other moves that got second round picks from using cap space.
Cap space is an asset to add surplus picks. So yes, Lowry should be valuable to Portland. If they can create 40 million in cap space next year, that can be another 2 first round picks from salary dumps.
