Getting Dame here now down to 35% imo. If Jaylen Brown is on the table then it’s pretty much over unless Dame states he will not play etc which I doubt he will go that route

We all have no idea but if the Celtics and Brown are at an impasse with the contract extensions a trade is not out of the open. Brown wants to get paid period, what team pays is immaterial.

They aren't trading for a 1 year rental of JB, who can just walk after. He also can't be traded for 1 year after an extension is signed.
This whole JB vs Dame narrative is a bunch of unrealistic made up fan fiction that won't ever happen.

You get what you pay for; if your team is talented enough to fill in the gap in talent that you have between Grant and Highsmith, then go for it. But again, you get what you pay for

Defensively, is there much of a difference between the 2 players?

Corner shooting is the key area of seperation but Highsmith seemed to shoot a good percentage in limited playoff mintues this past season (I'd have to check to confirm though)

Small sample size but Highsmith shot 8-16 (50%) from three during the playoffs this past season

Grant shot 25-53 (45%) from three during the playoffs.

In my eyes, yea' there's a gap. That sample size his not enough for me to bet on Highsmith over Grant if I'm building a team. His IQ on both sides of the ball is also superior, regardless of sample size

It's close to 85%, 10% 76ers somehow, 5% the field.

I think we have successfully hoodwinked the league into thinking we are doing everybody a favor by taking on Ben Simmons. I will go completely on the record in saying I’m a massive fan of the move. The sticker value of his contract might give you pause, but we’d be capped regardless. Give Spo somebody like Simmons to play around with, he will find his niche with this team. Not expecting superstar greatness, but I am expecting a guy with new confidence playing within a scheme that actually knows how to utilize his talents. He fits exactly the mold of what Spo wants in a 4 defensively at an elite level. He naturally fits in the dribble hand off game offensively.

He gives us a rebounding and paint presence that we haven’t had on the floor alongside Bam ever. I think he can do a lot of the things Aaron Gordon did for the Nuggets, and it would force most teams to play us with two bigs.

Simmons is a hand and glove fit even in his current state with the potential that he regains his confidence in the Heat culture, and starts balling out. I’d welcome him to Miami with open arms. It would be one of the greatest heists of our time, especially if it allows us to retain JJJ and Jovic

Please Pat get it done

Kawhi didn’t want Toronto, Paul George didn’t want OKC. The fact of the matter is Dame doesn’t have a NTC, he doesn’t really have an option here. Portland isn’t some FA destination, they can’t afford to lose someone like Dame for a guy like Herro that they don’t want or need.

As much as we want him here, it’s pure BS that a guy can lie through his teeth about being loyal, about not wanting to run from the grind, then sign a supermax 60mil per season, demand a trade to ONE team, the team that just happened to be in the finals. The players are getting out of hand, you guys are just ok with it because Miami is the team listed.

Dame is up for grabs and Miami simply does not have the assets to get him or anyone of his caliber here. Portland doesnt owe us a thing, and if they traded him here for a Herro then they simply put are a terrible organization.

Bad Coaching can do that to a player. This is a guy who has elite tools who has been forced to develop like a guard. Treat his big ass like a 4 that has the ability to handle the ball. A guy like Simmons just needs structure, and a solid environment around him. Jimmy has played with him he knows better than anybody

Simmons is a guy who is 26 and has averaged 14/8/8 on 56% shooting for his career. We wouldn’t be asking him to be the 2nd or even 3rd option. Ben Simmons we are asking you to be the dirty glue guy, a role I think he’s about willing to accept. I’m all on the Simmons rebrand in Miami

Last thing I want to say is that if I know anything about Miami Heat basketball is that they get everybody on their roster playing with crazy confidence. Nobody is afraid to shoot, or make a play, it’s an infectious deal. You are not going to convince me that all the tools that made Simmons a 3 time all star career in his first 4 years just disappeared. He’s having a career altering identity crisis, it can be fixed with CONFIDENCE.

Return to Miami Heat
