Kawhi didn’t want Toronto, Paul George didn’t want OKC. The fact of the matter is Dame doesn’t have a NTC, he doesn’t really have an option here. Portland isn’t some FA destination, they can’t afford to lose someone like Dame for a guy like Herro that they don’t want or need.
As much as we want him here, it’s pure BS that a guy can lie through his teeth about being loyal, about not wanting to run from the grind, then sign a supermax 60mil per season, demand a trade to ONE team, the team that just happened to be in the finals. The players are getting out of hand, you guys are just ok with it because Miami is the team listed.
Dame is up for grabs and Miami simply does not have the assets to get him or anyone of his caliber here. Portland doesnt owe us a thing, and if they traded him here for a Herro then they simply put are a terrible organization.
Kawhi was an expiring and bolted right when that contract was up. You gave one example of Paul George but failed to mention KD & Harden who have been traded to teams they wanted to. KD got traded for role players and 4 FRPs so not that good of a haul for that caliber player.
Lillard has been with that team for 11 years, so yes he has leverage in going where he wants because of the longevity he has had with that team. What message will it send to other players the acquire and draft if they pull a move like this?
So KD’s trade was decent but Herro (20ppg scorer),Lowry (expiring) Caleb and 2 FRPs (potentially 3 or 4 depending on okc and nets) isn’t good enough? Yeah right.
