That said second rounders are now 2mil per for four years (two gtd) makes them a lot more valuable these days
Quickley is an RFA after this season and due a massive contract. It’s the main reason the Knicks would move him.
Sexton is signed for three years on a reasonable deal.
I think Quickley’s defense is worth a massive contract. Sexton is reasonable if he continues to improve but his best statistical season he played mostly off the bench and at less than starter minutes. I suppose his deal aligns with our stars but I’m more a believer in Q. Q reached out to Jrue last year to discuss the finer points of defense
Not disputing any of that. Just pointing out your logic of giving up a first for Quickley but not Sexton because Quickley is on a rookie contract is incorrect.
Sure you have RFA rights on Quickley but he can also take the QO, so you’d only get him for two years guaranteed. Or someone can throw a max at him and you either match or lose him for nothing.
If you only want to use a first based on having control of a player longer, Sexton is signed to a longer deal currently.
If it’s about salary, Sexton will be cheaper than Quickley after this season for the following two.
But I see you moved the goalposts already so I digress.
