I will go completely on the record in saying I’m a massive fan of the move. The sticker value of his contract might give you pause, but we’d be capped regardless. Give Spo somebody like Simmons to play around with, he will find his niche with this team. Not expecting superstar greatness, but I am expecting a guy with new confidence playing within a scheme that actually knows how to utilize his talents. He fits exactly the mold of what Spo wants in a 4 defensively at an elite level. He naturally fits in the dribble hand off game offensively.

He gives us a rebounding and paint presence that we haven’t had on the floor alongside Bam ever. I think he can do a lot of the things Aaron Gordon did for the Nuggets, and it would force most teams to play us with two bigs.

Simmons is a hand and glove fit even in his current state with the potential that he regains his confidence in the Heat culture, and starts balling out. I’d welcome him to Miami with open arms. It would be one of the greatest heists of our time, especially if it allows us to retain JJJ and Jovic

This is delusional to the point of needing to be taken with a straight jacket. Dude literally couldn't get on the floor with a lotto nets team

No, sir

-SHULA

Bad Coaching can do that to a player. This is a guy who has elite tools who has been forced to develop like a guard. Treat his big ass like a 4 that has the ability to handle the ball. A guy like Simmons just needs structure, and a solid environment around him. Jimmy has played with him he knows better than anybody

Simmons is a guy who is 26 and has averaged 14/8/8 on 56% shooting for his career. We wouldn’t be asking him to be the 2nd or even 3rd option. Ben Simmons we are asking you to be the dirty glue guy, a role I think he’s about willing to accept. I’m all on the Simmons rebrand in Miami

Last thing I want to say is that if I know anything about Miami Heat basketball is that they get everybody on their roster playing with crazy confidence. Nobody is afraid to shoot, or make a play, it’s an infectious deal. You are not going to convince me that all the tools that made Simmons a 3 time all star career in his first 4 years just disappeared. He’s having a career altering identity crisis, it can be fixed with CONFIDENCE.

He might have the body of a 4. But dude has ZERO interest in doing the dirty work and big man work to actually be impactful at the position. He also has the whole degenerative back issue which only makes the idea of him leveling up the physicality of his game very unlikely.

He’s been played as a guard by his demands his whole career. Dude has spent his whole career having everything his way or no way. He’s not about to change that

Gotta be something behind the scenes for Orlando to waive Bol. Maybe it's to give him some more opportunity some place else. But he had a solid year and $2m is a very cheap team option to decline.

You didn't answer the question. In the "off chance homers are right" and the heat land Dame, what are you going to do? Will you apologize to all the "unrealistic homers" here?

Not at all, I will acknowledge that we were fortunate that Dame himself slit his own loyalty wrist and demanded to come to Miami. I will state that is THE only reason we got him. Nothing wrong with it at all. And at the same time the homers here will scream “the godfather” got it done, and pretend this was all his doing

Magic fans have claimed that they've just been better without him on the floor*shrugs*

If he were to become a %40 shooter nothing else would matter, but he's not. Not sure Heat could afford another forward project, but wouldn't mind building him up out in Sioux Falls

it’s still James harden

Even the KD trade isn’t equal in value

So what are we doing here?

Stop falling into the trap of value, the question is value to whom?
Player x, Picks, swaps = one value to one team and another value to another.
Find what the team is valuing more, for Portland, they are asking for (1) Young players first (2) First round picks (3) Expirings. In that order.
Miami is sending Herro (does not meet the quota, because he plays a position they do not need) little to no value to them.
Firs round picks, Miami's picks are late first rounders, they hold little weight, so if their not meeting the first request then at a minimun they will need a third team to get them 2 FRP's from another team, plus Miamis 2 FRP's at minimun.
Expiring contract, that is the only item Miami is meeting on their demand, but its last on the last of value for them.
Miami needs to find a way to meet deman (1), (2).

Durant trade gave the Brooklyn nets the value they requested more. (1) stud player (2) Picks & Pick swaps. at the time Phoenix had CP3 plus now Durant all at the end of their careers, those later FRP's from Phoenix will be valuable since Phoenix should stink in the couple of years.

That full assessment then needs to be applied to the context of every other rumored suitor and their likely trade packages. Where does it leave Portland? Where does it leave each of them.

Just out of curiosity, what happens if Tyler Herro declares that he's only willing to play for the Lakers?

Careful what you wish for. Soon we gonna get 8-foot fadeaways instead of 4-foot fadeaways!

He doesn't have the pull or tenure to throw that kind of demand around. He's also 23, not 33.

No bueno.

Nothing

Dude hasn't earned enough of a say in the franchise. That's where Portland's reaction seems a bit odd/off, so maybe they are telling him something internally and publically posturing to get some additional assets..

This guys video left me feeling a lot more confident we getting Lillard and that the deal may not look too bad for us.

But why would any team trade for him if he's made it known that he won't play for them?

Yes he has but we all know the main reason, Dames been dying to play with Bam since team USA. That’s his boy and they’re a perfect fit, it’s why I would crack up when some would suggest we trade Bam to get Dame. They don’t see the bigger picture, hopefully you’re starting to get it

If Jimmy hadn’t gone nuclear in the Mil series, Dame likely wouldn’t be insisting on Mia as his only choice.

Point is, as much as Bam is getting credit for Dame’s recruitment, Jimmy is also actively in Dame’s ear and his presence is ultimately what makes Mia the attraction that it is.

First part is debatable but we both know for a fact if not for Bam he for sure wouldn’t be saying Miami only.

Jimmy definitely deserves credit if we land him and Jimmys been in his ear, I never said otherwise. I pointed out the main reason, not the only reason

Pat had to lock Mickey and half the cheerleaders in his office to do all the little things necessary to get permission on going after Lillard. Zero chance outside of Pat Riley killing somebody and getting rid of the body for Mickey, doubtful we get that passed him.
