I will go completely on the record in saying I’m a massive fan of the move. The sticker value of his contract might give you pause, but we’d be capped regardless. Give Spo somebody like Simmons to play around with, he will find his niche with this team. Not expecting superstar greatness, but I am expecting a guy with new confidence playing within a scheme that actually knows how to utilize his talents. He fits exactly the mold of what Spo wants in a 4 defensively at an elite level. He naturally fits in the dribble hand off game offensively.
He gives us a rebounding and paint presence that we haven’t had on the floor alongside Bam ever. I think he can do a lot of the things Aaron Gordon did for the Nuggets, and it would force most teams to play us with two bigs.
Simmons is a hand and glove fit even in his current state with the potential that he regains his confidence in the Heat culture, and starts balling out. I’d welcome him to Miami with open arms. It would be one of the greatest heists of our time, especially if it allows us to retain JJJ and Jovic
This is delusional to the point of needing to be taken with a straight jacket. Dude literally couldn't get on the floor with a lotto nets team
No, sir

Bad Coaching can do that to a player. This is a guy who has elite tools who has been forced to develop like a guard. Treat his big ass like a 4 that has the ability to handle the ball. A guy like Simmons just needs structure, and a solid environment around him. Jimmy has played with him he knows better than anybody
Simmons is a guy who is 26 and has averaged 14/8/8 on 56% shooting for his career. We wouldn’t be asking him to be the 2nd or even 3rd option. Ben Simmons we are asking you to be the dirty glue guy, a role I think he’s about willing to accept. I’m all on the Simmons rebrand in Miami
Last thing I want to say is that if I know anything about Miami Heat basketball is that they get everybody on their roster playing with crazy confidence. Nobody is afraid to shoot, or make a play, it’s an infectious deal. You are not going to convince me that all the tools that made Simmons a 3 time all star career in his first 4 years just disappeared. He’s having a career altering identity crisis, it can be fixed with CONFIDENCE.
He might have the body of a 4. But dude has ZERO interest in doing the dirty work and big man work to actually be impactful at the position. He also has the whole degenerative back issue which only makes the idea of him leveling up the physicality of his game very unlikely.
He’s been played as a guard by his demands his whole career. Dude has spent his whole career having everything his way or no way. He’s not about to change that
