I think both will get in but only Draymond "should".
Draymond changed the NBA in his own way. He's a generational defender that basically created a new type of position.
Klay is awesome and really fun to watch but what makes him different from someone like Jerry Stackhouse? Klay is an awesome shooter and had some legendary moments but his legacy is significantly enhanced from playing on the Warriors. He benefits a lot from being the 3rd option because people don't remember his bad games.

Re: Do Draymond Green and Klay Thompson deserve to be in the Hall of Fame?
I have a very high bar for who gets into the HOF but based on the current NBA standards, I think they both get in.
Green's defensive prowess is remarkable and a huge reason for the GSW success.
I'm a little surprised by the lukewarm support for Klay. Lots of comments about him being a great shooter but one that owes his success to being on the same team as Steph and Green. They are great but let's not underestimate Klay's contribution to the dynasty.
I hold him to a higher regard than most. GSW record is 102-115 without Klay in the lineup between 2016 and 2023.
His shooting in games in the playoffs is truly legendary.
I think it can be safely said that GSW doesn't win nearly as many rings if they didn't have Klay.
I put him in the same category of shooters as Reggie Miller and Ray Allen.
Clearly, he's not the same player as before, due to age and injuries, but he is definitely HOF material based on today's NBA standards.

Before KD signed with them, Klay was the SECOND option. Draymod was more important but he did not provide much in the way of scoring. Klay was the second option last season as well. I also do not recall stackhouse being an elite three point shooter. Stack was also below average in terms of efficiency while klay in his prime was above average.

yes.
I saw people saying that Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton deserve to be in the HoF because big 3s of championship cores get in.
Well if there exists even one person that says Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton should be HoFers
anyone who thinks Klay or Draymond don't deserve it don't enjoy Basketball

Re: Do Draymond Green and Klay Thompson deserve to be in the Hall of Fame?
Both will get in but I'm in the camp that would say Draymond is the one that deserves it. Him being the lynchpin of those defenses (DPOY, consistent all NBA defender over a sustained period of time) grants that type of recognition. There are VERY few players who've been as effective as he has over the course of the last decade. I largely think he's a super impactful player if you remove him from the Warriors and put him on another team. A true X factor even if he's grating.
I'm not sure that's the case with Klay. Make him a number 1 on other teams, and he's a guy who scores in bunches, but ultimately doesn't move the needle, and becomes a fringe all-star player based on numbers and not necessarily team success.

I’ve never discredited any of Lebron’s former teammates to prop him up. Much less question a top 75 and top 100 all time player if they should be in the HOF just to prop Steph higher on a pedestal. Absolutely despicable behaviour if you’re truly a fan to the franchise. Clearly your delusional blindness far exceeds just being a Steph stan. Don’t lump me in with the likes of you and how you play favorites. I have multiple posts citing Anthony Davis as the more important piece on the Lakers, including the bubble ring. And another reminder this is a Klay and Draymond thread. Look how you’re the one to make everything and every angle about Lebron to justify your antics.

Stack also didn't play with the greatest shooter of all time. I was just using an example of a scoring shooting guard and that was the first one that came to mind. If Rip Hamilton played with Steph, could have put up above average efficiency as a second option? Klay famously doesn't really create shots for himself and relied on playmaking from Steph/Draymond.

no one is discrediting Klay/Dray, but it's a legitimate question as to what they would've been if they weren't in this system with Steph. we haven't seen them outside this environment, and one of them was a second round nobody at one point. asking if both would've been maximized on another team is not a crazy take.

Definitely. HOF is about what you did, not what you could have done in different circumstances, and both players are a major part of 4 championships and Warriors dynasty. I do agree that both players' careers could have been wildly different if they weren't paired with Curry. But in this universe, they did, and their achievements are worthy of HOF.

Um, pretty sure playing with steph isnt what makes klay an elite shooter...Yes, he benefitted playing with steph, but same goes for steph playing with klay as well..
Klay's stats without steph curry in his career:
119 GP
32.9 mpg
20.7ppg
FG% 44.2
3p%: 40.3
https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/klay-thompson-stats-without-steph-curry
Klay's stats without steph last season:
20 GP
34.6mpg
26.4ppg
45.2 FG%
42.6% 3p%
https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/klay-thompson-stats-without-steph-curry-2023
Klay thompson stats without steph curry career playoffs:
12 GP
37.7 mpg
26.4 ppg
48.5 FG%
45.6 3p%
Seeing as how klay plays pretty well even without steph, I think its safe to say his HOF merit is not based purely on just playing with steph curry.

So we playing hypotheticals too to prop Curry some more? Steph would be ringless without either one of these guys: Draymond, Klay, KD.
Switch Curry to Dame’s blazers or Lebron’s 03-09 cavs and he’d be a fringe all-star without Kerr’s system and the two names mentioned in the title of this thread. Show some respect to your franchise cornerstones, or continue to be a delusional Stephew. How embarrassing.

Lol, don't compare Dame to Steph, every time your crowd does this they get blown out of the water. Dame's best TS% season would rank as like Steph's 9th best. different stratosphere for player and impact.

Point is Steph isn’t getting out of the conf finals with any of Dame blazer teams either or sniffing the finals w any ‘03-10 Lebron cav teams. Steph was fortunate enough to have a very competent front office and willing to spend ownership who drafted and built around him smart, unselfish, team and defense first complimentary core of HOFs. Stop the delusional stanning and get off your knees.
Steph has two rings playing with a complete death line-up of 5 HOFs in their peak all at once. That includes a former MVP and top 15 all-time player still at his apex. Think about that first before you keep trying to pull LeBron into this, even though I’m a far more level headed and objective fan of his.
