To be fair, ownership and our stars are currently hungover in their white outfits, Morey is on vacation in Utah, and every trade scenario is the team with the stars getting royally screwed. It's going to take a minute for all of this to get sorted out.
Them all together at a party at a billionaire's mansion last night makes me feel like the Harden "drama" is manufactured to generate interest in the NBA this offseason, lol. Like, they're all chilling with each other and the beef Harden has likely would be more with ownership than Morey since they're the ones writing the checks.

Let’s check NBA Finals MVPs and notable champion names since 2000.
2000 - Shaq (traded from Magic)
2001 - Shaq (traded from Magic)
2002 - Shaq (traded from Magic)
2003 - Duncan
2004 - Billups (traded from Wolves, key pieces also got in a trade - Rasheed and Hamilton)
2005 - Duncan
2006 - Wade (Shaq being key #2 guy after a trade from LA)
2007 - Duncan
2008 - Pierce (because of KG and Allen trades)
2009 - Kobe (Pau and Odom trade)
2010 - Kobe (Pau, Odom and Artest trade)
2011 - Dirk (most of the supporting cast got in a trade. Kidd, Chandler, Marion, Terry)
2012 - LeBron (FA + Bosh also FA)
2013 - LeBron (FA + Bosh also FA and many many others like a hero in Ray Allen)
2014 - Kawhi
2015 - Iguodala (trade or FA, I don’t know)
2016 - LeBron (back as FA + Love trade)
2017 - Durant (trade)
2018 - Durant (trade)
2019 - Kawhi (trade)
2020 - LeBron (FA + Davis trade)
2021 - Giannis (Jrue trade)
2022 - Curry
2023 - Jokic
So, to me it’s 18 times out of 24 at least 1, 2 or 3 top team players were NOT drafted by the team.
Good trades matter for winning title.
And, matter of fact, we already have 2 of the 3 best players on the team that we drafted. Embiid and Maxey. We need good trades to win title:)
If anything this list tells you it's just don't trade for aging declined star player.
THIS. The ONLY team on the list that traded for an aging star on the decline was the 2006 Heat, who won after trading for 33-year-old Shaquille O'Neal.
And Dame Lillard couldn't even sniff Shaq's jock.
I’m against trading Maxey for Lillard.
My point was that we are actually right there and I don’t see us as a mess franchise.
Harden situation (stay or trade) is important.
Harris situation (trade) is important.
Summer 2024 (FA?) is important.
We need to build a title around the guys we drafted:
Embiid and Maxey.
It’s on Morey now.

Agree 100%. That's why Morey is getting the big bucks. To build a champion around Embiid + Maxey plus whatever we can get for Harden, Tobias, etc.

He's an rfa, it's an offer sheet. Sixers can do one too if they want. Gotta see if Portland will match.

I feel like the only young Raptors players are Anunoby and Barnes lol.

I'm pretty sure it's Barnes who is the issue.

The only thing about the lack of news I don't like is the nagging feeling that not signing any depth pieces at all means that one of these big, foolish trades is in the works. Why else would Morey leave so many roster spots open at this point?
All I can hope is that we aren't crippled beyond the next couple of years by one of these trades, because none of them is winning us a championship.

I'm assuming that's only a joke.

Wait Morey is on vacation. Does that mean Elton Brand is manning the ship. Yes !!!!! /s

I'm fairly sure Pascal is available already. Raptor fans seems to think he is.

The problem wasn't stopping Tatum. It was pulling away when he went cold.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 3
On a whim, I was looking up recent massive expiring contracts and what teams got for those contracts.
Andre Drummond’s 28.8 million dollar expiring contract (2021 trade deadline): Cleveland had gotten him for two expiring contracts and a second round pick from Detroit. Cleveland was unable to trade him and bought him out.
Kevin Love’s 28.9 million dollar expiring contract (2023 trade deadline): Cleveland (again!) ultimately bought him out and he joined the Heat for their Finals run.
Russell Westbrook’s 47.1 million dollar expiring contract (2023 trade deadline): Lakers held onto him.
I have got to think that Tobias Harris’ 39.3 million dollar expiring contract at the 2024 trade deadline would net a positive return given his skill set, age, and character and that the team acquiring him would want to shed long term salary.
Chicago and Lavine immediately come to mind, but this dialogue is geared towards “who else would be interested at the deadline and what could the package look like?”
