The Naz deal probably takes the $14 mil Tyus Jones off the table for us.

If we traded Prince + Wendell Moore Jr (for salary matching and value), that deal adds a little more than $4 mil to our payroll. Unfortunately it leaves us with only 13 players, and about $1.6 mil under the lux. Removing guys like Nate Knight or JMac only creates a roster slot that would be filled by a different player making something near the vet min, so there’s no progress there.

Monte Morris makes $9.8. Deloitte Wright makes 8.2

Morris is probably the guy to target. Plus he has the TC connection.

Tyus is the better defender, but Morris matches him in taking care of the ball - and he's ridiculously consistent shooting.

Ignore his rookie year because he played a total of 25 minutes and its uncanny:

2019: 49/41
2020: 46/38
2021: 48/38
2022: 48/40
2023: 48/38

.. which is saying a lot. Tyus led the NBA in AST/TO for three straight years, (and in 2022, his brother was #2!). Last year though, Tyus dropped to #2 behind .. Monte Morris.

If Naz plays through his player option year, he’ll be one of just 8 Timberwolves players all-time to play 7 seasons in Minnesota.

I liked how Flagrant Howls talked about him being at the center of Timberwolves culture…how he could be our Udonis Haslem.

I just listened to the Naz Reid signing press conference live I believe. It just ended so I'm not sure if this link will work but here it is.

Thanks I hadn't seen prep video of Naz before.
We were really lucky he had a down year at LSU, still amazing that he went undrafted.

I remember that night well and Naz not getting drafted as it got deeper and deeper into the night was one of the big stories/snubs.

Don't sleep on Naz as winning 6MOY next season...

This past year's finalists honestly weren't that great. Brogdon won it last year, but I'm guessing he'll be a full-time starter now after trading Smart. The other finalists were Immanuel Quickley (15 ppg in 29 mpg) and Bobby Portis (14/9 in 26 mpg). Naz last year averaged 11/5 in only 18 mpg, but after the all-star break upped it to 16/5 still in just 21 mpg. Those numbers extrapolated over even more time should be more than enough to get him into the conversation.

Just read an SI article in that Finch said he may play Naz, Towns, Gobert in the same lineup because they are skill enough. The other interesting point is they think he could be a very good defender which is not what I had seen so far.

Per36, averaged 1.2 steals and 1.5 blocks per game last year (the blocks were actually the lowest of his career).

Not to be negative, but that is a ridiculous.
