White / Brogdon / Banton
Brown / Pritchard
Tatum / Hauser
Porzingis / Brissett / Champagnie
RWilliams / Horford / Kornet

My guess is Forsberg isnt counting Champagnie since he’s not guaranteed. So that gets you to $7M.

But we have to fill in the roster so waiving him to save $2M will be cancelled when you fill the spot.

That was it, thanks

I'd rather not trade Brogdon for a downgrade just to get another mostly bad player in this market. Maybe we can get Oubre to come to a title contender for cheap prove it deal. Holy crap nevermind how is Oubre gonna do that coming off a year he averaged 20.

Something like Brogdon for Sexton or Brogdon for Norm Powell would give us the wiggle room to use the MLE or the TPE.

But I guess my question is who are we getting with the MLE or TPE that would be worth the downgrade from Brogdon to those players. Free agency is totally picked over for MLE guys. Teams don’t usually trade someone making under $7M if he’s any good so not sure how useful the TPE is.

Especially since Brogdon’s injury issues mean we won’t even get compensated draft pick wise for the downgrade. Juice just isn’t worth the squeeze from what I see.

True.

Downgrade so that you can add a player NOT better than Brogs is bad basketball decision.

Agree with that. Sexton could be ok. But he's got a longer deal. He may actually come with a second.

Brogdon to TOR
Gary Trent Jr., Pritchard, multiple 2nds to IND
Buddy Hield, Isaiah Jackson to BOS

We save 4.5M, sit at 171M for 12 players. taxMLE to Dosunmu, 176M for 13. Can bring in an athletic big- Bazley or Derrick Jones Jr. - or run it back with Blake. Last roster spot could be one of Javonte Green, Garrett Temple, Terence Davis..

White/Dosunmu/Banton
Jaylen/Hield/Javonte
Tatum/Hauser(/Javonte/Brissett)
KP/Brissett/Bazley
Rob/Al/Jackson/Luke

If the options for the MLE were more appealing I could see the logic in trading Brogs for a lesser bit cheaper player to open that up. It’s plausible that maybe there could have been some combos where Brogdon and a vet min signing wasn’t as good as a MLE signing and player you acquired for Brogdon. Even if Brogdon was the best player overall. But even if that scenario ever did exist, I don’t see it now.

Remember we can't even add anyone good that's gonna get bought out middle of season cos of the new apron rules.

Brogdon's injury history is about his leg.

The injury Brogs has now is his arm.

He played 67 games last season.

So the injury prone thing is overblown.

Once again, this offseason has been a disaster so far for the Celtics. When Brown gets the supermax, the disaster will be complete. At least they have some draft picks to rebuild after the extent of the damage becomes evident.

Not that big a gamble, imo. It's not like he's an expiring.

A disaster would be losing Tatum. Smart and Grant sucks. But Porzingis is better than either.

I 100% agree. I'd do it. Just the text isn't really complete there.

yep. Him sitting is the most absurd possible take. I can't believe that anyone actually buys that

Yep, what I meant. So unless there’s more maneuvering to cut salary, I’m not even sure we’ll use either the MLE or newly created TPE.
