I think this is the plan regarding roles and positions this year.

Leaves pritchard on the out so a need for a 3rd pg (davidson or yam?)

A big hole behind white (tpmle? Pritchard trade)
Lets say trade pritchard to portland for keon johnson

Sign t. Davis

Tpe on a pg

Brogdon/banton/tpe
White/davis/johnson
Brown/hauser/walsh
Tatum/horford/brisset
Porzingas/timelord/kornet

Need a jump from white and hauser and 1 ofbdavis or johnson...but a pretty decent team.

Be in the top 5 or 6 of the league

Marcus and Grant were good role players but teams have won without them before. It can happen again. It really can.

Still need a part time poor man's Marcus Smart.

Didnt Pat Beverley said in his podcast he was offered a contract by us?

Yes. Didn't want to wait. Javonte Green and Terence Davis are two guys still waiting. And there may be a fan out there who might have an old Celtic jersey they will finally be able to repurpose lol.

Spoiler:
Starters:
White, Brown, Tatum, RW3, Porzingis
I would put this starting unit against any in the league. In my green font glasses, I see this as top 3 in the league, if not the best. Not a player in their 30's yet, and all (after Brown signs his super max, and Porzingis extension is listed) signed for at least 2 years.

Rotational bench:
Brogdon, Banton, Hauser, Horford, Kornet
While I look at this bench lineup, I see a bit of everything. Horford and Brogdon are the vet leaders, Kornet is a very poor man's Porzingis, Banton the secondary ball handler and along with Brogdon the can distribute the ball and drive the rim, and Hauser the outside marksman. Lots of size here verses last season. Kornet (7'2) Horford (6'10) Hauser (6'8) Banton (6'7) and Brogdon (6'4). Also, look at the size comparisons with the starting lineup. (Porzingis 7'3-Kornet 7'2), (RW3 6'9-Horford 6'10), (Tatum 6'9-Hauser 6'8), (Brown 6'6-Banton 6'7), (White 6'4-Brogdon 6'4) They seem very interchangeable with the starting lineup, and they don't lose any size.

Remaining bench of five regular and three 2-way roster spots to fill:
Pritchard (shooting specialist /energy guy), Champagnie (athletic 6'6 energy guy), Davison (super athletic 6'3 energetic lane driver / distributor), Walsh (athletic 6'7 defensive specialist / tough guy), Brissette (athletic 6'7 rim runner) (and possibly from our summer league) Balcerowksi (athletic 7'1), Valerio-Bodon (athletic 6'9 shooter) Azubuike (6'10 big body/ old school inside banger)

Combine that with the possibility of more additions to the roster and I see a much more balanced, much more athletic, bigger team than last season. Also, at this point, Horford and Brogdon are the only players over 30, so a much younger team. This looks like a team built for winning now and the future.

I see it this way, and I'm going to take liberties and sign Javonte.

Starters
DW/JB/JT/RW/KP

2nd "wave"
Brogdon/Green/Brown/Horford/Porzingis

3rd wave
White/Tatum/Hauser/Brissett/Horford

I don't think Banton has a secured rotation spot. With the health issues on this team, he'll get periodic runs. Signing Green may add to the injury risk too, but, he's a more seasoned defender.

I don’t think team plan is to be 5 or 6th, most likely top 3.

I am sure the plan is #1 with a championship.

Not sure if it is plausible with what Brad has left the team to work with.

Lol was going to write the same thing. More like a top 2 or 3 team. White was a better defender than Smart last year. Porzingis is a very good defender. Certainly better than Grant. Defensively we are better or at worst the same. Much taller team. We now have a very good mid range game with Porzingis. There will be a lot of dunks and better looks next year. I think Brad has done an excellent job to set us up to succeed. Let’s see how coach does and how the players mesh together.

Maybe stupid but I’d be really sad if we trade White for Lillard. Would love it if we can win a ring without an imported superstar

Only reason why Portland does it is because of White.

On paper, that's a huge win for Boston. My only concern is the physicality we'd be losing in White, especially with Marcus gone. But man, this team would be incredible.

Depends if Dame would agree to report to camp. Everything else would be a nobrainer

He would. I'm not trading white though.. And we won't have to.

Is that a serious question? Of course you do that trade, all day.

A starting five of Dame Tatum Brown Porzingus Timelord. Dear god that team would be ridiculous.

Looking at Joes philosophy, and Rob Williams' history as well as the original plan of trading Brogdon for Porzingas I firmly believe that the starting lineup is....

Brogdon - the distributor who makes his shots
White - Glue guy, defense, makes shots, secondary playmaker
Brown - Scorer/Slasher
Tatum - Superstar
Porzingas - Pick and Pop scorer

It all just makes sense with what has played out. Joe is all abouot 3 pointers, Joe is all about 5 out offense. Starting Rob Williams takes all that away.

Tatum was more efficient as a PF as a shooter
Brown is more efficient as a SF because he doesnt dribble as much
White gets to fit his role
Brogdon gets to fit his role.

Not saying I agree AT ALL, but can almost guarantee that if no further changes are made....Brogdon starts. Horford and Rob off bench.

Brogs/Banton/......
White/....../walsh
Brown/Hauser/Champagnie
Tatum/Horford/Brisset
Porzingas/Timelord/Kornet

the ...... to be filled with Vet mins and possible TPE trade and 2 way players.

Yeah, I think White's more valuable to the Cs.

But that's going to be what it takes if the Cs are trading for Dame and it does not involve JB.
