Thanks, Analyst!
This is great information about Baldwin. If he's healthy, there's plenty of room for him to have a terrific NBA career. I'll be pulling for him.

I lived 20 years in San Francisco & was a big Warriors fan from the mid-1970s through the early 90's (yes, your arithmetic is correct: I'm old).

Your participation here has been a really big plus! Think about adopting us as your second team, & hanging out here for a completely different NBA experience than you are getting from the Warriors: namely, a rebuild from zilch!

This is a great board, & I'm pretty sure I speak for the whole gang when I say that we'd love to count you among us!

Appreciate the kind words! I’ve browsed this forum quite a while over the years. This board and Milwaukee’s are two of the more intelligent ones outside of the Warriors’ board, in my estimation. I’m going to try and catch Wizards game this season. I’d like to see Poole make the Warriors regret their decision. I have begrudgingly come to really like this trade for the Warriors because I do think Poole’s interpersonal issues were not salvageable on this Warriors’ roster and because I think CP3 is going to do wonders for the bench and depth pieces. But I’ll miss Poole, or at least Poole of 21-22. Sorting through laundry today, I remembered I have a Poole Party shirt that I purchased at the peak of Poole mania in the playoffs. My god, he was fun to watch in that run. And in the home stretch of regular season pre-playoffs? He was putting up peak-Dame stats. His ceiling is that high when paired with good playmakers. But it just wasn’t going to happen in the Bay and the moment I see someone check out and stop giving effort on a winning team, I’m out.

Well, whatever else is true, you got the better player right now in that deal! & given where the Warriors are right now that near term difference ought to pay dividends.

From our point of view, all the same, everything you've written about Jordan Poole -- both here & in your newsletter -- should help us feel positive about his potential on the Wizards!

I see....

8 months ago, "the Warriors decided that (Jordan) Poole was an" outstanding young player on his way up & gave him a $124m deal, with every penny fully guaranteed.

Then 8 months later, "the Warriors decided that (Jordan) Poole was an extraneous and inefficient member of their roster."

& these two statements both made in an article whose aim was to praise the Warriors.

How great when a journalist really digs deep into a story, huh?

For clarity:

1. In '21-22 Jordan Poole had an outstanding season. It was his 3d year in the league. Then he was terrific in the playoffs in '21 as well.
2. In '22-23 Jordan Poole had a lousy season.

Those are facts.

Here's another fact: whether Poole bounces back, gets even better, or plays badly again is something you don't know.

It's also something that I don't know, that Tim Kawakami doesn't know, & that the Warriors don't know.

Not even Jordan Poole knows. But I bet he's going to be working as hard as he possibly can to have a great season.

The fact that the writer never mentions Poole being assaulted by Draymond—and the Warriors being more pissed about the leaking of the video than at Green—tells you how much he’s in the tank for the Warriors FO.

Just wanted to say how nice it is to see people on the outside see the truth on this guy so easily. I've been stuck reading this guy for 20+ years in SF Bay Area sports, he is a useless read other than to pass on what FOs are saying, but he's good at being an insider. He's also a quick blocker on twitter, can confirm

warriors fan here, been watching him since the draft. I think you are getting an exciting young player who can handle, pass, finish and score decent on threes. His defense is questionable and likely wont change in wizards team but if he can take care of the ball and making better decisions he will be a very good offensive player. Worse case scenario if he could not make a leap into an allstar he will easily score 20 in this league and his contract is tradeable.

PBJ is going to be a solid NBA rotation player. His shot is legit and he has good instincts. Probably doesn't have the speed or athleticism to be a star, but he'll have a 15 year career.

There's not much to report on Rollins. The team liked him enough that they paid cash to move up a few spots in the second round and draft him, so that's a good sign I guess. Then he missed last summer league with a foot problem, put up numbers on the G league for a small sample of games, then missed the last bit of the season with another injury. There's just not much data on him. The report when we drafted him was they liked his offensive potential and he has a very good wingspan for his size so he's supposed to develop into a good defender, but there wasn't much chance to give a verdict on that yet.

Another Warriors' fan here.

I am so happy for JP to get away from Draymond and most of the Dub's fanbase who made him the scapegoat for all that went wrong last season.

I think you will get a very motivated Poole next season and I hope you guys give him a chance.

Thanks to both you guys!
Great to hear good stuff about Baldwin & Poole & a positive view on Rollins too.

You can be sure that Poole will get a chance: in fact he'll pretty much certain to be our starting 2.

what does a 2-man game look like with Poole? I'm thinking specifically of Kuzma, who isn't super great off-ball, but can do it. He's just not as effective as he is with the ball in his hand. Ideally, I think it's still Tyus initiating and both play off-ball, but I don't think Poole/Kuz are going to go for it.

So we get a 1st and a 2nd in the deal only? How come the article in the link (from nba.com) doesn’t list the other 2nd rnd picks and pick swaps? Did the deal change?

Poole and Kuz better get ready for Jones to be the initiator on offense because that’s what should happen—and I think it will.

It helps that Tyus is a proven vet…someone that Kuz and Poole should accept as the oncourt leader.
