are you signing in?

Twitter CEO Elon Musk addressed the issue on Saturday. He said viewing limits would be temporarily imposed on tweets to address "extreme levels of data scraping" and "system manipulation."

As of Saturday evening, "Verified" accounts were limited to reading 10,000 posts per day and unverified accounts limited to 1,000 tweets per day, Musk said. The limit on new, unverified accounts is 500 per day. Those numbers were up from lower numbers Musk cited earlier in the day.

The restrictions follow Twitter's announcement that it would require users to sign up for or log into an existing account on the site to be able to view tweets. He called the move a "temporary emergency measure," adding that several hundred organizations were scraping Twitter data "extremely aggressively," which he said was affecting user experience.

Yup Twitter and BR both ruined, since BR no longer shows tweets.

elon has trashed one of the greatest social media sites. He stopped paying the bills, lost all the marketing revenue and cut most of the staff. I cant wait till there is an alternative.

Elon's not the most likeable guy, to say the least, but what I think we're really seeing here is Big Tech scrambling to adjust to rising interest rates. The days of easy money are over, so the tech giants are now trying to squeeze every dollar they can out of their userbase.

Reddit just had a meltdown not too long ago for basically the same reason: breaking features that users took for granted to justify charging big bucks for their API. Netflix cracked down on password sharing. Now there's talk of YouTube starting to go hard against ad-blockers.

It's just extra bad with Twitter right now because the new rules undermine the site's whole purpose and cause more friction than even the most casual of users is willing to put up with. And to do this right at the start of NBA and NHL free agency is the worst possible timing, too.

The Clippers, from what I’ve heard, they have been reluctant so far to offer [Terance] Mann, picks, maybe even [Norman] Powell, and I don’t know that the two sides have really even had super significant dialogue, and I don’t really know what you do from there.”

Maybe not even Powell? I'm hearing from Philly talk radio that the Sixers are making noises about patching things up with Beard. All the Clippers seem to be offering is garbage we should be paying THEM to take off our hands.

“I have heard, I just don’t think there’s a lot out there for James Harden,” Kevin Lowe said on a recent episode of The Lowe Post podcast (h/t Jackson Frank of Liberty Ballers). “I just don’t sense that there’s a big appetite among teams to trade Philadelphia real stuff. The reason why the Dame Lillard name comes up for Philly is, like, I kinda need real stuff because the other dude on my team is the MVP [Joel Embiid] and if he gets unhappy or unhappier than he already might be, I’m just f*ucked.”

“I don’t think the [Miami] Heat are super interested in James Harden. They’re obviously focused elsewhere. I don’t think the [New York] Knicks are super interested in James Harden. If they could get him on the ultra, ultra cheap, that’s one thing. I don’t know that Philly wants to do that. The Clippers, from what I’ve heard, they have been reluctant so far to offer [Terance] Mann, picks, maybe even [Norman] Powell, and I don’t know that the two sides have really even had super significant dialogue, and I don’t really know what you do from there.”

If all they’ve offered is the expiring contracts then they were never serious about trading for him.

I hate this time because all sorts of things are said and you never know what to believe.

That NY one was a joke too involving PG.

I think the Clippers kicked the tires, and when you do that you don't want to offer up too much in the way of core players who are going to find out. I don't think they want Terance's or Norm's names floating in a bunch of trade speculation reports.

I don't think a trade will happen, but if talks actually get serious then we'll see (or maybe we'll never see) what the Clippers real bottom line is.

Sixers gave up two #1s, Simmons, Seth Curry & Drummond to get Harden. Morey won't get the same, but he won't take expirings and cap relief.

FTR, judging by the admittedly savage and ignorant Philly sportstalk radio, Morey would be forgiven anything except trading Tyrese Maxey, who is Sixerdom's fan equivalent of Terance Mann except he scores 20 ppg and is 4 years younger.

Philly hates Harden and would accept most anything in return. A package that includes two of Mann-Powell-Boston-FRP would go down pretty well.

Call me crazy but I don't want Powell or Mann to leave for Harden. We should only do this if we can absolutely fleece the 76ers. Dudes going to be 34, a statue off ball and at times gives half ass effort (that play on the Nets where he jogged to a lose ball and got it stolen). Also a playoff choker.

I appreciate what he's done, I would've been banned under the old regime simply for stating facts that were once deemed conspiratorial before it became obvious to everyone. I'm online alot and haven't reached the limit, I can't imagine how much more you guys are to reach the limit but it's a complaint I've heard from friends. The number of active users has skyrocketed from what little I've heard.

The problem that drives Harden out of Philly won't be solved If he traded to us. No one will gave him the contract he seeks. 1+1 option all the way untill inevitable decline. You don't gave future picks for that and I'm happy our FO don't jump on it. Their track record was only meh recently.

The question is, what does BALLMER want? I don't think he knows, so he follows the path of least resistance. Events dictate his decisions. It's him putting the brakes on throwing in some younger talent, be sure about that. L-Frank's job is hanging by a thread. He has no reason to worry about 3 or 5 years down the road.

I will give Ballmer [or Frank] credit for this: It appears the Clippers were in constant contact with Russ and Plumlee and showed them the respect they deserved--earned--and were rewarded with bigass hometown discounts. At least Ballmer was proactive enough to allow that.

Imagine how screwed we'd be right now if we'd have lost them both while dithering with deals that will probably never be made. No backup center again and Nuggets reject Bones Hyland learning on the job as the starting point guard? At least this way we have a glimmer of hope, that is if the Big Two get their asses on the court more often than not.

yeah i see this as a big issue, too. i mean, it sure sounds like harden's biggest gripe is that the 76ers don't wanna pay him his last big monies contract before he's completely washed (and he knows that). but if he thinks he's gonna get it elsewhere, he's completely wrong.

now, if he was killing it this offseason and looking like an ultra-shredded hugh jackman in his wolverine movies, yeah ok cool, maybe you get a resurgent near-mvp season from him. i'd gamble on that.

but when you have a notorious partyboy coming back to his hometown (LA of all places), i don't see how that bodes well, and his expectations of what he thinks he deserves vs his likely level of play are extremely unlikely to be the same.

Spot on. Harden, at this point, is as likely to show up weighing 320# as he is weighing 220#.

That NY one was a joke too involving PG.

Harden was a FA, he could have just walked and signed with anyone. He opted in with the condition that he'd get traded to the destination he wants. If Philly promised to honor his wish prior him opting-in, they must know they are not getting anything meaningful back except for contract match and maybe a couple of 2nd rounders.
IF they don't any of our expirings, those would need to go to a 3rd team who would most certainly want an additional asset to take the salary of Morris or Covington, and I don't think there is a team with cap space left who can just absorb any of those guys without trading someone back.

As far as I know this didn't see like a mutual, let's work together and make a trade decision. This seemed like more of an 11th hour quickly opt-in and then try to get traded.

There was no team with cap that he wanted to go to, and he obviously wasn't getting the initial offer he wanted from them, but your leverage is kind of gone if you wouldn't actually go anywhere else.

I don't know if they could have done it, but since him and his agent didn't discuss the opt-in and trade earlier, maybe try to get your opt in date extended if it was still possible so that you can know what the market is like and make an informed decision.

Ah well, guy should just stay in Philly and figure it out.

Clippers should just be patient and see how this plays out between Harden and the Sixers. I think you are going to see a disgruntled Harden if he has to return to the Sixers. So, maybe the Clippers could pick him up mid-season for cheap if they decide they still want to move in that direction.

He gave about a $15 million discount last season so that the Sixers could sign PJ Tucker and others.

Maybe there was an understanding that they'd max him out this summer or give him a big contract.

He lost weight and came into camp last fall in the best shape in several seasons and he had a good season for them. Some said he was all-NBA level.

Then he had some big games in the playoffs and also some bad games Not different from his playoff performances during his MVP years, even though he physically is not that player any more.

So he may think he's earned a 4 or 5-year fully guaranteed big extension and when the Sixers balked, he wanted out.

He is going to need that Westbrook AH HA moment as well. Nobody is giving him 4 years 200 million. Hes just not that good and declining. Honestly he doesnt fit with PG, Kawhi, Westbrook. If we replaced one of them with Harden that would make more sense. The 4 together in a starting lineup would get destroyed and would be stagnant as all hell. Nobody moving without the ball and everyone just taking turns shooting besides westbrook.

Is Harden ever not disgruntled? Seems like he's got a one trade demand every three weeks average.
