I think I’d rather have nothing.

Exactly, the "it's better to get something than nothing" reasoning doesn't make sense to me.

Portland pays Dame half a million per game. I don't think they owe him a championship any more than he owes them one.

Personally if I'm the GM there, I'm asking Dame to mentor Scoot at least until the trade deadline.

I think this is the correct way to think about it.

Personally I think that's the amicable way to approach this situation, but Dame and his agent have made it less than that. I'd tell him to sit his ass at home. Tell Miami to **** off (their package is ****) and wait for the market to come back around.

So…pretending like we can make a competitive offer…would Horst / Giannis say F Dame’s saltiness and trade for him anyways?

Lillard lowering his trade value could make things interesting to teams willing to go that route.

Idk how he could claim it’s all about winning either in a contending situation where he’s set to make absurd amounts of money until he’s 37.

We have nothing Portland wants. Have to involve another team

Just like with Miami and Herro the Bucks would need a third team not just to take but to highly value Jrue.

Running with what Zach Lowe brought up a few weeks ago about a straight up Towns for Holiday deal:

Wolves receive Jrue

Bucks receive Dame

Blazers receive KAT, their preference btw Connaughton / Bobby / Allen, Bucks 2029 first and swaps for 2028 and 2030.

The Dame heel turn since the draft has been impressive to watch.

Count me in the group that believes he’s not a historically great player deserving of calling his own shot.

I think that's a big part of Portland's calculus. As MD said the Bucks really can't put together a competitive offer, but if they did and Giannis called Dame and said 'come to Milwaukee and let's win some titles' and ditto with Tatum in Boston or Embiid in Philly or Lebron in LA, does he still remain steadfast in only wanting to go to Miami? And I don't think Portland believes that to be the case.

5 first round exits, 2 second round exits, and a WCF loss (where he did make some incredibly huge shots).

His resume feels very Demar Derozan in Toronto-ish.

Donovan Mitchell only wanted to go to the Knicks until he said he was jumping for joy to go to Cleveland.

We’ll see how much leverage Dame really has as well as how much damage he wants to do to his reputation if not legacy.

Making Portland look like the aggrieved party in this situation is definitely a heel turn and then some.

Yup. If he just said, “send me to any team with a chance,” the deal would be done already and he’d continue looking like a hero.

He’s doing some serious legacy damage. Especially, when he fails to push this Cinderella Heat team over the hump.

Herro and Robinson is an awful package. He's not Ben Simmons, but Robinson is a negative asset at this point. But, Herro, Caleb Martin, Jaime Jaquez and Jovic and a couple picks is in a vacuum I think pretty good value. The issue is that Herro is less valuable to Portland than he is to perhaps any other team in the league.

The whole calling other teams saying he'd pout if they traded for him thing is INSANE. There are plenty of winning scenarios out there for him, some probably even better than Miami for him to win AND to screw over his franchise less - what a fake b1tc#

This is it, I don't think anyone blames Dame for asking out considering the terrible job Portland's FO has done surrounding him with good players, but demanding you get sent to a specific destination and attempting to kill any leverage Portland has is a terrible look. If he just said send me to a contending team I think he'd still be liked by most people

I agree with this. If the report that the GM lied to him about trades that were in the works is correct, it explains the scorched earth thing on the way out.

He's had 1 all-nba First team season and 4 2nd Team season.

If you let him start calling shots, Tatum, Brown, Booker, Derozan are basically in that category.
He's good, but he's not top 50 once in a draft class kind of guy.

That's a very fair assessment, especially once you take into account the defensive end, of his overall impact on winning.

Maybe Wemby's "hello world" game tonight will finally relieve us from the Dame-a-thon. I'm ready to change the subject.

Over/under on the number of tonight's ESPN top 10 plays that involve Wembanyama: 1.5.

Speaking of Hello World, younger posters may not know that the original usage, the Tiger Woods coming out party, happened in Milwaukee, at a public golf course (Brown Deer). It doesn't seem like 27 years ago that I watched that skinny kid hit his wedges a mile in the air for no reason other than clubhead speed that nobody ever saw before and he hadn't yet learned to control.

Dame stuff also didn’t start here.

Not like playing Will Smith’s Miami song on his Instagram the day after the draft was very subtle.

Hell he was leaking to Chris Haynes while the Heat were still playing in the finals.
