This is an excellent performance and the production quality (video/audio/everything) is remarkable.

We're so fortunate to be able to access content like this for free- I remember in paying the cost of a couple of albums to get a copy of The Cure's Show concert flick on VHS and being blown away that I was able to watch them play an album that had only come out a year or so earlier. :D

Just popped-up into my feed this evening. Fantastic performance of one of my favorites from one of my all-timer albums. Kelcey's accompaniment just crushes.

The new Isbell is great. The man can write a song.

I meant to get back to your post and then I visited the mother land and lost my thread (my friends, our drinking culture needs to slow its roll a bit; maybe settle between what’s going on now and twirl). I had not heard/seen this. Thanks!

Love Local Natives. I don’t follow them super close but I listen to all their albums. Under the radar great, in my book. Such a great sound that they have slowly refined into a thicker groove. I’m so high right now.

Instead of sullying the Bucks media thread, I'll address the "Vampire Weekend is the most influential rock band of the last 15 years" with the question "Who are the current bands that arose in the wake of Vampire Weekend that support this assertion?"

Sidenote: the first half of the oughts was the last great period of guitar-centric projects. The 20 year prospectives are really hammering this home. The latest anniversaries of the Ted Leo and Exploding Hearts records, two of my favorite records this century, reached that milestone this year.

I “feel” like there has been a bevy of forgettable college radio rock-adjacent bands in the wake Vampire Weekend. Forgettable enough that I’ve forgotten them.

Realistically I think the most influential rock band of the last 15 years is definitely still The Beatles.

Yeah, that's kinda what I was hinting at. Influence has to have some staying power.

It's not even 100% clear what the bounds of the question are. Do we interpret it as, like, which of the rock bands that were popular within the last 15 years (a very short list) had the most influence on the popular rock bands releasing music within the last 3-5 years (another very short list with a lot of overlap with the first one)?

Wilco and Arcade Fire come to mind? I have no idea.

Crash Davis had the most home runs.
That's good!

Are The Strokes too far back for this discussion (meaning most influential - not that they were influenced by VW)? Because I feel like they're the runaway answer here and lapping the competition.

I don't even know what classifies as rock music in 2023.

ETA: Manchester Orchestra (noted above) is probably the closest thing I can come up with (outside of like "hard rock" or whatever, which I have no knowledge of). Maybe Band of Horses? Idk.

Nu-metal is having a moment. Garage bands haven't come back yet. Some rap-rock is back but not really. Rock is largely now a resurgence of '02-'05. Turnstile is seen as a refreshing new age pop-punk/alt-rock. They're okay.

Eh, fine.

Bad Omens has had the biggest year in rock.

Can't argue with their success, everything they do is great. You've heard it before.

Falling In Reverse is very big. I hate it. Ronnie Radke is a huge POS.

I don't really know what Ghost claims to be, but he makes great tunes and put out a great album.

She's shifted away from pure rock but PVRIS still puts out great music

And Sleep Token is has made the best music I've heard in a long time.
