Maybe Bol Bol wouldn't accept 1 year at the vet minimum?

Detroit got Bol Bol off waivers. Once they got him, we went with Bamba.

Edit - I may be mistaken.

I guess people are saying that Harrell only declined his option because it helped eased some cap situation for the Sixers. He was always going to be back. It never made sense for him to decline.

And Harrell's agent is Klutch, so you don't really want to shake the hornet's nest.

Talking about Hornets nest and Klutch. I'm already targeting Miles Bridges as Harris replacement next season ! Like I said give me the fast forward to the end of this season. I want to see how this free agent story starts and ends.

It's gonna be epic when next summer the Sixers open up enough cap space for almost two max deals and everyone's excited and then on the first day of free agency Morey signs Harden to a 4 year max deal and everyone's like WTFFFF

Or it could be that Reed is seen more as a 4 than a 5 in a Nurse system. That would be fine with me.

The Harrell signing is a waste, but he's an end of the bench 'locker room' guy, so to me not a big deal. What makes it jarring is doing it now, when the fan base (some of it, anyway) is frothing at the mouth for 'action'.

The problem is that referring to it as "two max spots" means there will be expectations of some stud free agents coming here and then outrage when it doesn't happen. Why can it only be two spots? Once Maxey is extended the emphasis should be on solid role players and young 'second chance' types like Aaron Gordon.

I only wish that was the route the organization would take - stop the star hunting and build a deep, solid roster around Embiid and Maxey.

Wow I thought he was way older

He's a short center who cannot defend, basically is the Enes Kanter dilema.

As i understand he tried to add mass muscle so he could hang with other centers and that shot his athleticism.

Why would the Clippers consider that? I suppose if they believe the Knicks were going to implode, it'd make sense.

Should also be noted:

While neither of those conversations gained traction for now, the fact that LaVine continues to be discussed only underscores the speculation that multiple rival executives voiced to NBC Sports Chicago during the NBA Draft Combine in May: Will LaVine finish his five-year maximum contract with the Bulls?

I could see Nurse utilizing Reed like he did Boucher, mixing and matching across the frontcourt

Likely he was always going to come back, but also got a free chance to test the market too. I just hope this didn’t violate the CBA and cost us another draft pick

There's been stuff about Paul George wanting some massive contract extension.

I would move Melton and Korkmaz in a Lavine /Tobias trade because I can't see us retaining them this off-season.

Harden run it back with the homies this year then .. Let him walk next off-season.

Resign Maxey on a Max next off-season.

Paul Reed is definitely a more natural 4 than a center. He played well out of position but giving him more minutes as a second big would be much for him. Now we have a backup 5 that can shoot so Reed is playable at the 4 with both Embiid & Bamba.

Yossi Gozlan: Montrezl Harrell’s player option amount he declined was $2.76M. His veteran minimum this year is $2.89M thanks to the cap rising. The Sixers would’ve had a $2.76M cap hit in their books had he opted in. Instead his new salary this year will only count as $2.02M. Everybody wins

Maybe Harrell wanted to pick up the player option and they negotiated this?

Definitely seems like it. Otherwise, I would question why they would sign him as a potentially 4th center especially when he was abysmal last year.
