Celtics seem to be settling on the wrong third big piece and losing depth in the process. Sounds familiar.

Alright, the Lillard storyline is getting annoying. How many ways can he and his agent say they only want to go to Miami (for an extreme discount)?

Because it's all about culture, players surely don't want to play in this toxic and weak environment, Lillard is a smart player. He can't possibly be thinking: "Play with Embiid? sign me up! can't wait to play with him!"

Totally agree. They needed some change, but trading depth guys who actually show up in big spots and adding a career stats compiler on bad teams (when he's even available) is such a Sixers move, but out of character for BOS.

Starting to see the differences between Ainge and Stevens.
If it works out for them and they win a title, kudos. But this thing reeks of a playoff flameout with Porzingis/Tatum/Brown all hating eachother and Brown eventually demanding a trade to go be the man somewhere else.

Am I missing something here did you watch the Celtics in the playoffs last year? They were a mess. For the life of me, I don't understand how players get this reputation of gamers when they disappear all the time.
Smart is a career .532 TS in the playoffs. He is not a gamer, he does a good job grabbin and flopping to get his team extra possesions that is it and he's improved his 3Pt shooting to the point he is slightly worse than mediocre rather than the absolutely atrocious 3PT shooting of his earlier career. Porzingis is just so much better and skilled on every level. They also got multiple first-rounders that they can use to package with another player to bring in a very good playmaking PG if they so wish. The trade was a homerun.
Williams is good too but did you see the contract he got? Even if the Celtics didn't get Porzingis paying Williams that was never in the cards and would have been dumb. He is a good role player but these recent contracts are stupid you don't fall in love with your role players and pay 13.5M AAV for them.

The Homie to Golden State. Nice fit for both sides.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:
Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Grimes/Edgecombe/Gordon
Oubre/Edwards
George/Watford/Barlow
Embiid/Bona/Drummond/Broome

Yeah, I thought he played well with the Thunder last year. At this point in his career, 10-15 mpg seems about his maximum output. Which is all they really need.

Don't think so fans always fall in love with role players just it's usually role players who have won something like Big Shot Bob or Fisher not on teams that imploded

What do the team who win the NBA in season tournament get? And whats the downside if teams just load management their way thru this in season tournament?
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

Adam Silver will be really sad.
That alone would make me want to tank the whole idiotic thing.

Because their scam is not working. Miami is trying to lowball and Portland isn't having it. I expect this standoff to continue. Would be interesting to see it go into the season ala us with BS.
Would the Blazers have the guts/gall to actually fine Dame for not showing up?

Right. Plus any team relying on Porzingis and Brogdon to be healthy and effective in the playoffs is taking a major gamble. Odds are one or both won't be able to answer the bell when it counts.

I can see us winning it and the ownership touting it to deflect from their total failure to deliver real results. They may even prioritize it for that reason.
A cheap consolation prize.

I'm dead honest when I say I would actively root against us if we had a chance to win it. Imagine the memes and jokes by fans around the league, it would be an embarrassment.

In the last four seasons, Smart has averaged 60 games. Porzingis 54. People have this narrative of Smart that borders on mythos when the reality is so much different.
The thing is he going to the grizzlies and he won't be protected. He won't get the same looks living off Tatum and Browns gravity. Fans won't shrug off him bricking 3 after 3 and taking shots that Ja should be taking. He is going to get exposed so badly. Not to mention if the NBA enforces the new flopping rule it's basically game over as it relates to being his best skill which is generating extra possessions for teams.
As far as Brogdon goes and Porzingis as well they don't need to count on them being both healthy 100 percent at the same time. That is what is called having real depth. They have Tatum, Brown, they kept the good Williams, they still have Horford. They are stacked and they actually gained assets while letting Williams and Smart go so they can easily bring in help. I am so envious of where they are in relation to my Sixers. We have no picks. We are worse at almost every position except center and they closed the gap with Porzingis WHILE getting picks. Yet, people here think somehow the Celtics got worse.
It's crazy. They had the best offseason so far next to maybe next to the spurs just because they lucked into the 1st overall pick.

I don't agree that they are better positioned to win playoff games, but I completely agree that they are better than the Sixers and in an enviable position asset-wise. I love Brogdon and hoped he was let go, but I'm going to have to see Porzingas deliver in big games before being a believer.

The Rockets rule. I'm going to go be a Rockets fan now.
