It's a sign from the basketball gods, things are about to be great for the Celtics. A naked buffalo is a ancient sign that brings glory to whomever is befriending one. No way we can defy the basketball gods by trading the holy buffalo.

That’s nice. Semi Ojeleye had a more impressive blocks streak though.

Gotta love Derrick. He was sick of hearing people clown him about his hairline so he shaved it off haha.

Rest of the league might be in slightly better shape than that victim, but it won't matter to Derrick.

Truly excited for this pairing. Just too bad Timelord was out for most of the season but when these two were on the floor together (1006 possessions), Celtics outscored opponents by +14.5 points per 100 possessions. White was behind Tatum by one assist (20 vs. 21) as the guy who assisted Rob the most and 17 of them were at the rim. When the three of them shared the court, Celtics outscored opponents by +21.3 lmao. Just watch the highlights from when they played the Grizzlies back in February. Both Smart and Brown were out that day and Hauwitzer had to start.

Per Windhorst on their recent pod episode, Derrick White is eligible to be extended to 3 more years (on top of the 2 he still has) at just under 90M. Cs can offer as soon as September 30 up until October 23. Get that **** done, Brad. Hoping for less than that number of course.

The 2 years he has will be his age 29 and 30 seasons. So we'd be paying for his age 31/32/33 seasons with that extension.

In this day and age, committing to anyone for 5 years, especially into their 30s, somewhat concerns me. On the other hand, as the cap continues to spike, $18M/year for a quality starting caliber player will look better and better. 33 isn't ANCIENT or anything. So if you can get that deal done and he holds his value as a starting caliber player, that could be a great deal.

There's just inherent downside in any 5 year commitment really.

Less concerning for White who's played every game except one (birth of his child) as a Boston Celtic. Most advanced metrics rank White highly during his time in green. I don't mind that commitment at all. I think we've yet to see full impact of an unleashed White. I would've extended him before I extended JB and KP tbh if $$ was a concern.

And the trend now seems to be not letting your good to great players reach free agency. Either extend or trade them (if you don't want to pay them).
