Re: Rayan Rupert = Steal of the draft
I don't buy that the agent told clubs not to draft his client. That just doesn't make sense or sound like good business. It sounds like Stevie Francis and we know how that worked out.

Re: Rayan Rupert = Steal of the draft
I heard an NBA level talent wanted to get drafted by Portland, and went out of his way to get drafted by Portland.

That's why I used the words sounds and "kinda and ish in my comment. Maybe I should have been more clear and he seems from his play in the past that he seems like a glue guy, a bit of a jack o all trades, seems fundamentally sound. Lighten up

So glad Thybulle is back. Great news for this kid if you ask me.

Wow. Rupert is absolutely killing his Batum impersonation. That first summer league game was a master class.

He is the definition of RAW and a long term project, looked slow footed to me as well. Only one summer league game but it will be a while with him

Might want to keep a pin in that. Apparently the match isn’t official yet, just that the Blazers intend to. Some insiders on the Mavs said are wondering why that hasn’t happened yet… have to wonder if maybe the teams are talking S&T after Goodwin’s comments to Hayes that he “desperately” wanted to play in Dallas and not go back to Portland.
I’d like to add **** you Aaron Goodwin, to my standing **** you Jody Allen and **** you Joe Crolshey.

Players are literally mercenaries, the owner are paying millions for grown men to ay a children's game and the Players train for years to be a part of that. Once they have a molecule of leverage it's drama and me-me meeeee

Once an offer sheet was signed, Portland had 24 hours to match and no S&T was possible.
This is over.
I really doubt these "insiders" know what they are talking about.

Re: Rayan Rupert = Steal of the draft
Remember how bad Batum looked in his rookie season and he was older with more
experience.
It'll be interesting what Portland does if they end up with more youth added to Scoot,
Murray and Rupert? Guys like Simons will be grizzled veterans

Spotrac, which seems to be very up-to-date on transactions, shows Thybulle as being matched and on the Blazer roster
however, they still don't show Grant's deal as being final
I'd have more conspiracy-theory questions about that than Thybulle

Has Grant actually signed his deal?

as far as I can tell, he hasn't yet
it's likely just circumstance unrelated to the Dame situation
however, I'd wonder if the Blazers approached Grant, and his agent, and asked if he'd be OK with a S&T. If it was, for instance, a 4-year/148M deal in the S&T, and Grant was going to a contender with good playoff possibilities, that might appeal to him more than that 5th season. a choice between 32M/year for 5 years with a lottery team, or 37Myear for 4 years and lots of playoff games might be a fair compromise in his view

Any idea on who would take on Grant at that price?

nope...it's a real long shot to think about, but he could be folded into the Dame trade somehow, especially if it was a major 3-4 team trade
