I think we'll eventually round out the bench with someone who can score. Not going to panic just yet, but I am mad about Reed. I really think we should hold on to him.
I am too. Doc f--ked us over with Reed. Now we either lose him or take a huge risk on a guy who wasn't given a chance to prove what he can do. But if Morey doesn't match, it makes Morey look incompetent (major league incompetent) because he can't get anyone better. He needs to pull the trigger sooner on the Harden trade to make the numbers work so that we can keep Reed.
OTOH if Doc had played Reed 20 a night we'd know more about where he stood... but I think if Doc played Reed 20 a night Reed would have averaged like 10pts, 8 boards, 1.5 stl/blk and as a RFA probably woulda gotten at least a 3/33 or maybe even 4/44 offer sheet or higher.
So really Morey needs to not be a chump and take Reed at a 'cheaper contract' than he would have gotten had Doc not buried him last year.
Agree. B-Ball's making Morey make a commitment. Also, we need him to play both 4 and 5. His payday's not part of Morey's budget plan. On the other hand, it's time for him to move Harden to the Clippers. I'm still hoping we bring back Powell, Mann and a future protected first as the key pieces. We may now need a couple of seconds (they have them) to possibly move Kork to help get our payroll down.
The fans all knew Reed could contribute. Doc didn't. Morey obviously didn't read him the riot act. This is a smart move for Reed - and the only move his agent could make given that we've treated him like dog ****.
