BLAZERS / SPURS coming up on ESPN2 in just minutes. Heard Scoot won't play, but I just hope Wemby and Sharpe do. I have a strong feeling Sharpe will be looking to, and may just smash on him.

In fact all indications were even as things things turned out amen was very high on our list to the point that Cronin likely viewed this as a "top 4 draft." I think taking amen at 3 was very strongly considered even over Scoot but in the end by a slight margin Scoot was the better player in the eyes of cronin and co (rightfully so, I was hoping they wouldn't pass on Scoot who seemingly has a couple less holes in his game). Amen is more of a roll of the dice on potential but if that potential is realized and he gets a jump shot man watch out!

Personally I think our order was wemby (duh) Scoot Miller and amen but it wouldn't be remotely shocking if amen was 1 spot higher above Miller.

Agreed. Amen looks to be the same draft tier as Scoot or Miller.
Amen's fit would be even better in Portland than Scoot, as he can play point next to Ant and cover his defensive shortcomings, or fit seamlessly in an Ant/Sharpe/Amen lineup and maximize all the young talent.

Just to be clear I view Scoot as the number 2 best prospect in this draft and a no brainer at 2. I think Scoot is the more complete package and already has somewhat of a shot whereas amen has to develop one. But I think amen seemingly does seem closer to belonging in the top 4 than bunched with anyone taken after him as his physical skillset makes him intriguing as a prospect.

I know this is just an opinion but i wouldnt be shocked to see Scoot In hindsight be viewed the best prospect in this draft and amen and wemby to be slightly below. Wemby has a great skillset without a doubt and belongs at 1 (you can't pass on him at 1 regardless because the potential is there), but if you held a gun to my head and asked to rank the top 4 in 10 years I'd probably say Scoot wemby amen then Miller in order. People are talking wemby up as if he's the goat and I think he will indeed be considered very good one day, but the fact that many sources were indicating wemby was worth more than giannis, jokic, embeiid, prime lebron, or prime Jordan is crazy talk and a setup for the letdown. Honestly it wouldn't be remotely shocking to me if he's not the top of this class even when all is said and done. 7'3" the way he plays Is a major injury risk and while I concede at number 1 anybody would have to take that risk because of what wemby could become there there are certainly risks and I almost expect there to be injuries that dog him from reaching his fullest peak.

Not having Scoot here sucks. Compared to how in control Portland was in Game 1 to this game, you notice him not running the offense.

Wemby looks legitimately raw. Gonna take him some time to adjust to the league. He’s on get stripped a lot.

Wemby will have some spectacular plays, but at least early, he’s going to be pretty overwhelmed by the speed of the NBA from what I see. He does not look like a LeBron type of dominating presence right off the bat. Not that he can’t get there in time, but this won’t be a Day 1 thing.

I have mixed emotions here. On one hand wemby seems like a good kid and I want to see him succeed, on the other hand I kind of want to see this blow up in the nba's face because just about everyone has put the cart before the horse on wemby & just having the frame and the raw skills alone doesn't make a prospect better than guys who worked for years to become the best.

Oh too often fanboys Want to build up paper goats. It's unfair for people to put that pressure on the kid

I’m not trying to discount him, just that they hyperbole about him may have gotten a bit out of hand.

His midrange game looks great. From the eye test, he reminds me of a taller, skinner Aldridge. Which if he bulks up like LA did (LA was super skinny to start his career too)… that’s a problem for the league.

Scoreboard here in Mack didn’t even spell his last name, they have him listed as Wemby.

On the Blazers side, Shae’s court vision is looking improved (I type as he blows a wide open dunk lol). He’s seeing passing lanes I didn’t see him look for last year.

Dang, Sharpe forgot how to dunk. Feels like he’s trying too hard to impress. He’s definitely better with better teammates.

Blazers really missing Scoot. His absence tonight really shows. He was able to get to his spots in the first SL game and control the pace. The team tonight is lacking that.

Yeah he does look good, I guess I'm sick of hearing people say just how good he is before a single minute of real game action

I don't mind holding anf for at least one more year as a sixth man. Sharpe looks good on paper but I want to see how he does in an expanded role for more than a 16 game sample and worst case we have a decent scoring option off the bench in anf who I think could kill it in a 6th man role. And his contract would expire just in time for shaedons rookie extension

Probably the last time Portland will limit the Spurs to just 8 points in the 1st quarter. lol

Oh absolutely. I don’t think he will be bad by any stretch, but for the crazy talk of he’s going to dominate like LeBron… it won’t be in S1 I don’t think.

Rupert with some nice plays near the end of the first.

Def wish Scoot was playing.

Wemby will definitely lead the league in 3pt shots blocked.

But not a rim protector right now.

I could definitely see Scoot and Ant starting the year with Sharpe coming off the bench. We’ll have to see how the player and team dynamics develop. I’m not as low on Ant as some fans on here are. Portland will need his scoring next year, and I think he can help space the floor with Scoot.

Dummy? A bit harsh. Obviously its SL, hence the lol in the comment. But if putting others down makes you feel better about yourself, go for it.

Devoe also looking good tonight. Might not be a bad option unless a Dame trade brings back some stronger bench players.

Announcers sound like their Spurs announcers since 75-80% of their discussion is about the Spurs.

This is my concern about Sharpe. I loved the corner kick pass to convert the 3 (passed to Butler I believe )

Other than that, if he’s cold from the floor…how is he impacting the game? That question needs answered this season

Tv or live? Live it sounds like Mark Mason, he’s saying RipCity every chance he can too.

He’s also going at what I would say is 3/4 speed. He’s not even kind of looking to attack which i would say is more a situation of it being a pointless SL game. I also think that missed dunk could be screwing with his head. Curious to see how he does after the half time.
