If you watched the playoffs and still think Reed has no
Potential then god bless you. He maybe not the sharpest knife in the kitchen but he can be transformed into a a very good piece by Nick Nurse. Ideally the Sixers get a credible playmaker in the harden trade help him flourish if James is indeed traded and if not I predict harden for all his warts is a generational playmaker at getting the most out of his bigs will help him unlock a lot of his talent . Case in example Clint Capela

Reed also complement Joel in the department we must need: Rebounding.

If he can shoot corner 3's, we can actually play double big this season.

Beautiful, now go get Will Barton to come off the bench. He can score, play the 3 if needed as well. Never a doubt about Reed. Glad he's back.

The trade veto is only in the first year so that sixers can't trade him to a tanking team this season which will prevent his contract to be guaranteed next 2 years.

Im guessing we can’t s&t him this offseason.

Fwiw, his contract condition was very smartly constructed by the Jazz

Glad to see we’re still capable of making painfully obvious moves. I’ll be very interested to see if he is able to win the starting PF role in camp.

Thankfully the FO didn’t cheap out. Basketball was the only must retain of our FAs.

Now he should start at PF next to Jo. Slide Tobi to SF and Tucker to the bench or out of town with Harden.

I predict a Boucher or more likely a precious Achiuwa type role for him under nurse. A versatile defender who can play the 4/5 with the ability to be versatile

The longer they waited the more likely it felt they were matching. A small thing but tied up Utah’s money for a bit.

The whole poison pill thing was more of a stunt than anything, it’s good value at three years for Reed as a long term keeper or trade piece next summer. All the better if this means PJ is gone at some point to save tax money.

Also I’m fairly certain that the idea we are trying to keep a full max slot open next summer is a Morey red herring. He wants to trade for whatever guy he is after this season, but legit wants to keep some space open for smaller deals next summer. The big FA thing just feels like part of Morey’s negotiating tactics with Harddn and Harris trade partners, especially any who might lose a FA next summer.

I'm still locked in on Tobi being traded this offseason.

Okay, merely a bad offseason so far rather than complete fanhood obliteration.... I'll take it?

To anyone who only thinks that Ainge is a skunk, rather than Morey as well, it occurred to me that Ainge might have it out for Morey because of things in Morey’s past. I remember vividly something that didn’t happen to Ainge, but it makes me wonder whether something like it ever has.

It happened this time of year in 2012 when Bulls fans were stunned and aggrieved to learn of how Morey had circumvented the Gilbert Arenas rule and signed the Bulls’ highly esteemed backup C, Omer Asik, to a 3 year offer sheet. Poison pill in year 3. The Bulls didn’t match. If you’re interested, skip past the first few paragraphs making fun of Morey and jump to the stuff about the contract.

I’m just glad for now that Morey made sure not to let himself get what might have been just desserts, but at Philly fans’ expense.

PG: Maxey/Pat Beverly
SG: Harden/Melton/Jaden Springer
SF: Tobias/House Jr
PF: Reed/Tucker
C: Biid/Bamba/Harrell

Injects some motor and size with Nurse’s coaching style.

Also possibly plug&play addition for Raps players if they go full rebuild.

I still think it depends on Harden. If Harden stays, Tobi goes. And vice versa.

Or if no good deal materializes, he stays no matter what.

the thing with Reed is that he solves the what happens when Jo sits problem that had tanked previous seasons

....so of course Jo then went and tanked his own lineups wakka wakka.

What happens to Reed’s contract if the Sixers get bounced in the first round?

I'm hoping they are looking to try to get Reed to play PF. And there's a posilsibility since they also signed Bamba, otherwise, I'm not sure why they signed him.

If they can get him to be effective next to Embiid, you could wish upon a star to flip Tobi for one of the FA wings next year and you would actually have a decent lineup.

Embiid
BBall / Tucker
Brown or Kawhi or PG
Maxey
Harden

Fill out the rest of the roster with former Rockets or Raptors and you got yourself a team.

And you might be thinking, did it ever work for the Knicks to clear cap space for a big FA signing? Of course not, they somehow delude themselves to thinking it might, but... it might work for us.

PJ Washington about to sign the RFA tender. Both he and his teammate Miles Bridges will be UFA next summer. Add them to the target list.

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
