Re: Tank World Order (10.0) The Empire Strikes Back
I stopped watching the moment we traded for Poeltl lol until this team stops living off the ghost of 2019 & deals with the actual reality they're in, then I'm not wasting time stressing what direction they're going because clearly they don't know. One second it's supposed to be "Vision 6'9" (to justify trading for Achuiwa & Thad, when really they just wanted to get some value out of those deals to not walk away with nothing but had to explain the roster) which they abandon the very next year to draft & trade for two 7 footers lol. Then when MLSE can't make money on the Bubble, it's "Play-In for What!!", ohh we're back in TO with a rabid fanbase that MLSE can price hike & swim in Playoff money...use whatever FRP you need for whatever minimal upgrade to make it. I don't even know how Masai kept a straight face saying he believes in these guys, yet be nose deep in trade talks with everyone in the starting lineup not named Scottie Barnes lol.
Let's not even discuss how they claim the move for Yak was to "give these guys a chance"....what guys?! Be specific. Because in what world are they bringing EVERYONE (Fred, Gary AND Yak) back, then still be able to pay through the nose for OG, Pascal and eventually Achuiwa & Barnes. I HIGHLY doubt that, so what the heck are we even supposed to be evaluating?! A team that won't even exist next year?! It's a joke lol
The sad reality is this team wants to pretend they're building another Celtics' like team of depth & 2way players but in reality, we're much closer to being the Knicks. While I might give the slight advantage to our team, look at the how they operate -- Nurse & Thibs run their starters into the ground to win games by playing max effort all season, then get exposed by more talented teams in the Playoffs when the better teams turn it on too. Brunson/FVV, Randle/Siakam, as their best players. The Knicks overachieved made it to the 5th seed, lost against a boastful opponent (Trae/Embiid), then out of the Playoffs around the 12-15 range in the draft, where does that sound familiar?! Go listen to Knick fans, they see their team in a very similar way to Raptor fans lol, they look at RJ, Quickley, Grimes, Robinson with Brunson/Randle as a "younger team" with assets, the same we do with Scottie, OG, Achuiwa. Again I do give our team the advantage because I like our secondary players more but the reality is we're closer to being the Knicks, then the Celtics or Bucks and the bottomline reason is we don't have a superstar like Tatum or Giannis.
The draft would've at least given us a chance with some luck to do so with Vic or Scoot and even if not, a BETTER opportunity to add an all-star level talent who we might be able to develop into a player to at least raise the ceiling of the team or at worst be an extremely value trade chip to use in a trade for a star. But whatever lol they're doubling down on their Playoff profits and we'll just have to pray for an absolute steal this year.

Arguably we could've made a try at the one thing though, even if it would've been unlikely. You might get a better chance at a Scottie Barnes type than if you don't try at all as well. But we went with the middling compete route instead.
Right? lol can’t believe this needs to be explained.
But... what's to say they aren't still trying at the trade route? That's still a possibility right? And I need to explain that?
Trading for a player of a KD/Kawhi Level talent in todays climate means your giving up your future as well....We def had a 1 in a million type trade with the Kawhi/DD Swap....That would never happen under regular circumstances....
Imagine Masai gave up the 3-4 unprotected 1sts, Boat load of stud players for Kawhi that year (Which is what it takes for a player even on DeJounte Murrays level let alone Kawhi lol) And Kawhi left us the following year all for us to have no draft picks and no Kawhi to show for?....
Trades could be made ofc but even if we added even lets say a DeJounte, Gobert, Mitchell level player to the team with what we would have to give up for said player we would still not be a title contender....Thats why it would be much harder going that route cause even adding an All star to the team we have does nothing....We would need a legit game changer like a Kawhi/KD type to put us on that level and getting that in a trade seems impossible atm lol...

41-41 if they keep trying .. or they could rest guys and just tank for better odds. Seems like an easy decision.
Very generous with the W's. I like it.
No expectation of Masai sitting starters, given he's trying to sell next season's season tickets at 15-20% increase - need to get into play-in to convince the season ticket holders to accept the price hike.

You were right all along Phil. I was blinded by my copium for a proper rebuild. There will be more losing because of this wasted opportunity.

The management won't take a step back in order to move 2 steps forward. Maybe the offers were underwhelming at deadline because they delayed the decisions but sometimes taking a loss allows for quicker recovery. Poor asset management.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

Re: Tank World Order (10.0) The Empire Strikes Back
Just imagine if we were in the lottery odds to actually land a top pick in this draft....Lets say 6-7th and ontop of that at the deadline we grabbed a few prospects and draft picks for OG....We would be so much more excited about the teams future...Esp the draft lottery....It be nuts the hype of us even having a chance to win the Lottery...
Now we are hoping to make the playin game and hope to win a round without getting embarrassed...

Terrible body language, his entire press conference conveyed zero confidence and quite honestly, a tone of desperation.

Honestly feel his voice is not being heard when it comes to the direction he wants to go....Imo he wanted to go the route of playing the draft to get better (Just 2 years ago saying play in for what) but is having alot of push back by people above him who want to continue winning (Tickets sales, Playoff tickets etc) ....I think he knows the team isn't good enough like the majority of the posters here but is basically being forced to try and compete right now for gain of more money....
Thats how i see it tbh...Cause some of the moves Masai made the last little while has been so not Masai way of doing things and so out of character

If the bucks and Celtics are still going for seeding they won't rest. With the play in the top 2 teams will get 6 full days to rest anyways so it's more about injury prevention. But I agree if bucks are a lock than Giannis at the least would most likely not be playing.

This made me feel better because Hendricks being in the top 10 pushes Nick Smith and Wallace to 12 and 13, and we badly need to find a guard around there like Donovan Mitchell, Haliburton, McCollum, Lavine, Booker, Shai or Herro, who all went between 10-13 as that seems to be a range where you can sometimes get a quality guard after a bunch of 2-way forwards have gone.

We're all back on board.
Tank this ****er.
Still feel these pieces can work but it'll be the off season and a high pick in order to make it so.

If he reclassifies does that mean he’s playing college this fall or next fall? As in can we draft him the year the spurs have our top 6 protected pick or the draft after that?
