PITCHING MATCHUP

Image
Andy Pettitte, LHP (0-0, 3.60)
Andy Pettitte worked four-plus innings on Thursday night in his first start back with the Yanks after a three-year hiatus in Houston. He gave up six hits and four runs (two earned) against the Rays while striking out two and walking three. The veteran southpaw started the game with temperatures dipping to the 30s, and he had some communication problems with catcher Jorge Posada. Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter said Pettitte pitched well but had to come out of the game because of his pitch count. Pettitte is 7-5 with a 3.71 ERA in 17 career starts against the Twins.

Boof Bonser, RHP (0-0, 3.00)
Bonser?s first test of the season showed a bit of his youth. Bonser appeared to labor through the early part of his start against the Orioles, throwing 60 pitches through three innings, but he was able to cruise through his final two innings on only 20 pitches. The Twins want to see the big right-hander work on pitching to contact a bit more and relying on his defense, rather than his penchant for striking out batters. He?ll need to do that in his first career start against the Yankees.

YANKEES HOT BATS TO WATCH OUT FOR

ALEX RODRIGUEZ
Image
Rodriguez is off to the best start in his career he became the first player in team history to hit five homers in the first six games. He leads the majors in both homers and RBI, with 13 IS ALSO 3 RBI short of tieing his April output for 2006 . Simply put he is on fire !!! :P

(postgame quote)"For me, the key is trying to stay inside the ball and spread the ball all over the field," Rodriguez said. "That's when I do my best work."

Dont underestimate Boof Bonser. I have him for fantasy and I expect some good things out of him....could be the Twins 2nd best pitcher this year.

He may give our hitters fits. Thank god we dont face Johan Santana or Scott Baker though.

I do think Pettite pitches well though, the weather(or lack of) will help him gain control.

As with Pavano last night, I expect Pettite to be better the second time around. Andy didn't get a lot of pre-season work and is still building up his arm strength.

Go yanks. I expect Pettite to pitch well. Haven't heard of "Boof" before but hopefully we give Andy some run support and get him a W.
