Depends where you are at in career. If you are 8-10 years pro who makes $15M a year or more, you probably don't need more money ( if you have any self awarness , you aren't gambling, you aren't burning 200K on luxury cars you don't drive etc) i would prefer tengable sucess and accolades to my name.
But if i'm young, not really all that filthy rich i would probably prefer financial security first.
Maybe it's personal thing, i don't think money buys you any happiness in life.
I just thought it's funny that our "vet" is still wrapped up in money like, dude you made $100 000 000 and majority of that money you made after you started to suck, be happy with what you have

You have to understand some of these guys are from nothing and have lots of mouth to feed.
Maybe in Europe it is different. Not a lot would do it. Like Ricky Rubio, i’m sure he’d make more money staying in the NBA than europe. But he’d prefer to go back.
I think its more of a cultural thing tbh.
I just can't wrap my head around what a **** those people do to burn down $60M in their lifetime.
Like, okey, you buy some mega house and that costs you $3M. You buy 10 luxury cars and it costs you some $4M . You buy kids & parents some $3M house/apartmants.
You are 30. You will die at i don't know, 80.
You would need to spend $2630 a day to piss all off by a day you die
That would assume you are somehow burning $79 000 a month, $950K a year.

It's near impossible to go broke if you aren't gambling, aren't doing something extra stupid like cripto "investments".
Like ,instad of buying MTV crib house, you can buy several apartmens and land it. Sell whenever it's needed without burning money.
What happends to those athletes, however, is fact that they don't know how to put condom on, so they sleep around and breed like fishes and than have to pay child supports
The former Los Angeles Lakers player claims to no longer have an average monthly income and is living off a non-recurring, lump sum payment of $418 thousand from the NBA, plus $4,000 from a property he rents.
Ariza's monthly expenses include, but are not limited to: $13 thousand for mortgage, $13 thousand in child support for his other son, $14 thousand on several vehicles and $19 thousand on "other" stuff.
The "other" stuff consists of what he pays his personal assistant, basketball training for his children, massages, boxing classes, self-care and $2,500 to his girlfriend.
Stupidity at it's finest. Those people don't live lifes we live. That's how and why they go broke. Their narcissistic traits, delusion and complete detachment from reality eventually is their doom. I probably like guy like Jokic way more than other stars mostly because he wins championship as best player on planet Earth and drops bomb that basketball isn't his life. He gets it. Life is so much more than hoops or posting pictures of your $80K watch on instagram and flexing new Ferrari who, btw, you probably can't even drive beause speedbumps are too high in most cities
