Heat also in no hurry to trade, Herro is a good young player with upside. This could take a while.

Just because a hand full of players will get that huge bag at the age of 36/37, doesn’t make it less concerning. Physical declination at such age is a fact of life, not some mystical tale. Those other teams will live with their player’s cost as a payment for years of commitment, in Miami’s case it is purely due to a window that is closing fast, Butler’s window. Nothing else.
Agreed! The current contract was earned in Portland and given as a legacy contract by them… Dame’s next team has had zero benefit over the 11 years that Dame earned this contract through. His next team will carry all the burden of such a contract with zero to show for it and all they can do is hope that he can still live up to at least a high fraction of its cost!
Dame is a high risk.. HOPEFULLY a high reward type of move. History does not favor us though because as fishfuego so elegantly put it… “Physical declination at such age is a fact of life, not some mystical tale.”
Your previous post was spot on. I couldn’t have said nor described it any better.
Miami is in this unique situation of acting now with a very tight window. Other teams are simply not in the same situation.
But as you say, Miami has a tight window to contend with Jimmy. So they’re motivated to get a deal done as well. Is holding up a deal for Jovic or Jaquez worth it (if indeed they are)?

Yes. Unless you are getting young players in their prime you can't assume its gonna work out. It didn't with Nets and may not with Suns. In case it doesn't, you need some assets around Bam to rebuild. As much as we talk we are a FA destination. It really hasn't worked out that was post Lebron. So we can't assume if this doesn't work out, that a Mitchell or Tatum gonna come here when its just Bam and 0 assets.
If this was prime Dame, then going all in makes sense. He's not.

In all likelihood, Riley is willing to give them Jovic, Jaime, plus whatever first round picks we have. But Blazers wants him to trade Herro so we can send them even more assets. But Riley either wants to keep Herro since he’s an anchor on the team, or Riley isn’t a fan of what other teams are offering for Herro.
For a long time it gave me nightmares, witnessing an injustice like that. It’s a constant reminder of just how unfair this world can be.I can still hear them taunting him, Silly Rabbit tricks are for kids.I mean why couldn’t they just give him some cereal?

Lmao the same things we’ve been checking these morons on.
The offers that Portland is dreaming of simply don’t (and won’t) exist.

My feelings wont be hurt if we hold on to Herro and he ascends.

It’s spo’s fault for dismantling his market value for not allowing him to showcase his skills.

Exactly… and we won’t even have cap space for Tatum/DM/Fox anyways. The soonest we may have a decent chunk of cap to afford a max (assuming Pat doesn’t fill the cap sheet from here to then) would be the year after Dame expires… which is after the free agency of Bam’s friends.
The only shot would be trading Dame’s expiring contract and some valuable assets to bring them here… which requires some leftover picks and players like Jovic/JJJ from the Dame deal (with the hope they develop and become desirable assets).

I remember a time where we all clamored for Lowry and thought he would come in here and continue to perform his magic…
Reality set in real quick that his production at $30mil was a big negative… and you all haven’t stop complaining about it since.
Wonder what the sentiment will be when we see another PG fall victim to Father Time on our clock and in our books making more than $55mil for a couple more seasons…

Y’all need not worry. We’re not trading Lillard to Miami.

If it results in an NBA championship, I'm sure the fanbase will manage.

I understand that due to age he’s likely to decline soon, but as a matter of fact he IS still currently prime Dame. Last season was the best statistical season of his career.

The trailblazers are making fools of themselves. Dragging this out months for an additional marginal player reeks of desperation. Dame gave them 11 years - they paid him, but did nothing else. Let the guy go. He isn't even in their plans supposedly. Just a sad organization all around.
I understand trying to extract maximum value, but at a point waiting will only produce diminishing returns. What's the hold up (other than being petty)?

Lillard after a fall off is still probably a better player than Lowry was his last year in Toronto. If he comes cool, if he doesn't thats cool too..that's where I'm at. If this is to get done I just hope it gets done soon as it would be unfair to the guys going out to drag this crap into camp.
