One thing i will say about Jett in summer league is that his defense was a little better than I thought.

I think the most shocking thing thus far was the radio program In the Zone today was ripping into Jett Howard. They said he was "terrible" and were talking a lot of trash about him. This radio program is usually over the top optimistic about everything Magic related, so to hear that was crazy.

I think he's trying to do too much. He just needs to space the floor and nail his 3s for the time being. He has the game of someone who should be playing in Ice Cube's 3 on 3 league. It's ugly to watch.

Are we watching diff people? I feel like it's everybody on both sides trying to justify their reservations about the pick or happiness about the pick and is overreacting in both ways. Saw the same thing happening with Black where people who didn't like the pick didn't even want to say nice things after his first game and people who did start comparing him to x, y and z.

Positives:

- Quick release, threes look crisp when they go in
- Defense doesn't look as bad as other rookies I've seen that had similar concerns so far
- Seems comfortable with the ball/dribbling unlike other shooting options at 11
- Has found nice assists throughout both games
- Able to separate to create own shot on the three point line
- Ballhogging concerns seemed exaggerated, playing team ball in a summer league setting

Negatives:

- Doesn't have much craftiness under the basket yet
- Athleticism waxes and wanes depending where he is on the court, which will limit his finishing ability
- Arc on his shot looks flat on some releases
- Rebounding will have to improve (kind of like Franz in that area)
- Defensive versatility probably is very low

J.Howard can pass the ball - for me thats the biggest takeaway from the SL so far. If he can shoot 3pts at the expected level, he'll be a part of our rotation.

Bunch of teams passed on him because they didn't get a chance to bring him in for a workout, so they took the guys that they got to know. He wasn't supposed to be there, so he probably limited his visits or they didn't bother to ask him.

is he? 0-2 FT, 1-5 3 pt, against a SL team that is likely worse than ours and playing without a single draft pick if i looked at it correctly. and he went 5-18 on Friday, sandwiched around a decent game on sunday. so i would pump the brakes a little on Cam also
