Does anybody want Obi to fail?

I want Obi to be depressed and uncomfortable every time somebody brings up Knicks and playing in MSG

Am i wrong for this?

Considering he played good soldier since drafted, never asked to be traded, and just wanted an opportunity. I don't understand why there would be any hate towards Obi. He wanted to be here and played proud.

I get what Illmatic is saying though. Cause the sports news media is going to just take a giant dump on us if he kicks ass over there. I don't want any parts of that. Hope he's just... Somewhere between sucks and eh

Exactly people will rub it in our face. I respect Thibs and I feel like hes been right moreso than not. He has a good eye for talent. People always says Thibs has favortism for certain players or vets, which is true But the players Thibs has trusted have had very successful careers while the others have been pretty mid. We gave him **** for Frank, Thibs was right. Gave him **** for Cam, Thibs was right. You can even say the same for certain players in minnesota

Obi shouldve never went off on Thibs like that That shouldve been private. IDC if he deserved mins or not. Thats not good for the locker room

Honestly if this happens, we asked for it and earned it. They will dump on us for wasting a pick, not developing them, and then giving them away for nothing.

Is there anything wrong there? It's pretty much just stating the facts

I was joking about hoping hes depressed part but to be honest, I was not a fan of how his camp leaked that audio of Obi going off on Thibs

Where did you hear it was Obi's camp that leaked it and not a reporter standing outside the door waiting for an interview.

And how would Obi' s camp even see this leak as a W?
We can all play speculation, I'll play too.
It was ex-team manager Mike Martinez and he actually got fired in a face-saving way.

Idk man. the timing of it just seemed very weird. Why leak it now and not after the game then??? If it was a reporter thats breaking news right there, no reporter is just saving that for over a month lol. Its not coincidence that he got traded shortly after. Obi to Pacer smoke has been there since trade deadline. Knicks aren't leaking that, so who else would it be???

So you think Obi might go to another back up role ?

Or he forms part of the package to get Siakam?

And become a starter in Toronto ?
I will only cherish the wins and ignore everything else, because that's the only way to survive as a Knicks fan.

Unfortunately for Obi, power forwards whose weaknesses are defense and rebounding are not destined for starting roles.

I do think Obi will show something with a bigger opportunity in Indiana, but I also don't think he will be the "one who got away". As much as he never got big minutes for us, there is enough of a track record that leads you to an evaluation of low end rotation player, which is exactly what he was for us.

- Not a good 3 point shooter, which is the only shot he can get easily (because he wasn't really guarded out there). 32.5% over three years; he clearly was more confident this year and could be streaky good but still not a guy you want taking a lot of 3's.
- Doesn't get to the line, at all.
- Not a good rebounder. Definitely a big reason Thibs couldn't use him at the 5.
- Not a very good defender. Didn't get steals, didn't get blocks, despite his athleticism. Can't bang down low with a physical 4 of 5.
- Not a playmaker.
- We saw over and over again he was out of his element trying to create his own shot.

He's an energy guy off the bench. Will have some good stat games when his shot is falling, or the game is helter skelter and he gets chances to run and finish. I think we get fooled when he puts up some huge numbers in garbage time games late in the season, we have seen it over and over again, that is fools good (see the likes of Lavor Postell, Alexi Shved, Mudiay, DSJ JR., and others).

If we kept Obi for this year, don't think it changes our outlook. Just don't see it. I wish him well in Indiana, but am not particularly worried he becomes a star and we have terrible regrets. There was a reason nobody was offering 1st rounders (and I don't think we would have done much better in a trade a year ago). That Indy team is deep, don't be shocked when the dust settles if he is on the fringe of that rotation.

I don't see why "we" deserve it. We're fans, not the front office making deals. We root for our team and we root for certain other things to happen. And one of them now is for Obi to be meh so we don't have to listen to the media bullsht about it.

That's how I feel anyway, you can root for him all you want

Good summary of Obi's 3 years here. There's also the Thibs and Randle hate that goes into it. The idea that the team plays better with Obi and that Thibs was incompetent for not using him the right way. This is the only window for Obi to showcase himself in Indiana, before last season he would also be behind "white Randle" in Sabonis as well.

would like to draw attention to the "doesnt get to the line, at all"

that is because he avoids contact and just chucks a ufo when the space up ahead is crowded. Thibs prolly wants him to drive creatively and strongly to the hoop and make the other team catch some fouls but he isnt that kind of player (with being the 8th pick and with that size, he is expected to have that skillset)

absolutely you're wrong, obi smiled and high fived teammates while Randle was sulking and avoiding media and now you're rooting he fails because he's' not wearing the uniform any longer?

I hope he turns into prime blake griffin and media never let the knicks forget.

Sup my Guy.
Its my understanding that it was after the lost to Miami that Obi played just 6 minutes. But you're right that was that.

No way Obi could come back and Im sure family and team asked Sam Rose to ask Dad for the out. Dad Rose would not hold the kid for ransom and off Obi went to Indy with thr Don's blessings.
