Bishop Letson 6'4" HS RHP

Indiana hasn't had a high school pitcher taken in the top five rounds since Athletics fourth-rounder Skylar Szynski in 2016, but Letson could break through this year. He has passed Cameron Tilly (Castle HS, Newburgh) as the state's top prep arm because he has performed better this spring and has more projectability. A blister resulted in a bad outing in front of several scouts in early May, though Letson rebounded to finish strong. Letson's fastball has ranged from 88-94 mph in 2023, and he should find more consistent velocity as he adds strength to his wiry frame. His heater plays up with high spin rates and riding action. He also has good feel for his pair of secondary pitches in the low 80s, showing the ability to land his tight slider and sinking changeup in the zone. Letson has a quick, whippy arm and an athletic delivery that he repeats well. There's a significant gap between his present stuff and his ceiling, but he could have three solid or better offerings once he matures physically. He has committed to Purdue but is considered relatively signable.

He removed his name from the draft.

Deadline to "withdraw or remove" yourself from the draft was a month ago. He can tells people his intent to not sign, but he cannot remove himself from the draft.

16th rounder Josh Timmerman from OSU is intriguing. Nasty raw stuff but has trouble commanding. Still one year of eligibility left.

Jacob Gholston HS RHP and is the likely fall back option is one of the earlier over slots doesn't sign. IF the other two sign they likely dont have money for him.

6-15 range.

It'll be right there in that 6/7-14/15 range.

I think it goes.
1. Chourio
2. Frelick
3. Quero
4. Misiorowski
5. Tyler Black
6. Robert Gasser
7. Wilken
8. Luis Lara
9. Cooper Pratt
10. Eric Bitonti
11. Eric Brown Jr
12. Robert Moore
13. Boeve
14. Carlos F. Rodriguez
15. Knoth

I could see Lara rising and Brown falling.

You think Knoth will be that low?

It's gotta be pretty rare to go 20 rounds and only draft three positions (SS, 3B, P) with 15 of those picks being a single position (P), right? The system certainly seems to need pitching, but still, this feels weird.

Growth plates usually close at 19 as well :(

Totally random, but my family almost all the men on my mother's side have grown at least two inches after the age of 18. And weirder than that, my feet have grown .5 size in my late 30s and early 40s but I suspect that is because of working from home for so many years I stopped jamming feet in business shoes. So I think they just spread out a bit, but none of my old shoes fit me any longer.
Not to derail the draft talk but had to comment. I also went up a 1/2 shoe size around 40. I think Nikes have gotten a little smaller fitting but its not all that because I have old shoes that don't fit right anymore. Weird

I also grew a couple inches after high school but graduated at 17 so not shocking I guess.

The system is very very deep. Just going on Pipeline. Boeve pre ranked ahead of Knoth. I could see a scenario where Brown slides out of top 15 because of injuries but everyone else ahead of Knoth is a better prospect at this point purely on rankings.

This is definitely a different direction from the rule 4 than theyve ever done. Which leads me to believe they hare throwing one last shot at it and come off season starting the rebuild/retool. Burnes, Woody, Adames, Tellez, Houser, and Miley are all FA's after next season. With all but Miley going into their last arby year which has a huge spike. Devin has two more seasons of arb after this year so he spikes as well. I don't think they can pay all these guys. Best bet is to sell off in the offseason ala Cubs and start the rebuild. This draft with the high upside theme associated to it speaks to that being a possibility.

I can't remember which team did it, but couple years ago they took all pitchers with their first two days worth of picks.

I don't follow draft prospects much, appreciate all the info.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.
