I just edited my post above to include this, but here is some explanation as to why this benefits Boston:
Why for Boston:
-You avoid having to pay JB (66th in the league last season in BPM) that insane contract which would make him the highest paid player in the league..
-You get a player (OG) who is comparable in talent, comparable in age. OG is a much better defender, has more size/length while being less of a ball stopper, less ball dominant on offense
-You have more clearly defined pecking order. Tatum is THE 1, Porzingis is THE 2, and OG is THE 3
-Add front court depth with Boucher, who gives us a legit 4th big to back up KP, Rob, Al since all 3 of those guys are old or injury prone. That 4 headed monster up front (with Kornet as 5th big) allows us to load manage and keep everyone fresh/healthy come playoff time
As for JB resigning in Toronto, I don't see why not? He'd have an entire country to market his brand and the 7uice brand too, with the raptors being the only NBA team in Canada. He's be THE primary scorer and #1 option there. They'd have a good team, a playoff team with JB/Siakam/Barnes. And he'd be going to the team where he is most wanted.
