Half this board is so afraid of the Jaylen supermax they’re willing to trade him anyone with a pulse.

Yeah it’s kind of crazy.
To me it is unlikely for the Cs to become a better team by trading him.
Assuming the goal is to win and maximize your window of being in the mix, then you need to extend Jaylen.

Whether you love him or hate him I think we can move forward. The hot stove has become a cooling plate. Nothing else left this offseason besides the crossing of some T’s and dotting some I’s

Also, doing this move would give the Hawks better balance. Right now, their 2 best players are both point guards, which is not good. Trae and Murray both made all-star team the year *before* they teamed up, but last season as teammates, neither of them made all-star. And the numbers went down last season for both of them. Doing this trade would give them 1 star PG and 1 star wing, which is better balance. It would also give the celtics 1 star PG and 1 star wing, rather than the status quo in Boston which is 2 star wings and 0 star PG's..
With that being said, I did hear a rumor that the Hawks are open to trading anyone on the team except for Trae..so admittedly, this one is a little farfetched..
I literally said in my post that they’re not on the same level. Score 0 for reading comprehension I guess. I only meant the comparison as in he’s their franchise guy. Maybe read the post before “refuting”. Oh and if you think dejounte Murray is a star pg I’d suggest looking him up on those metric you like so much.
Dejounte is a much better fit with JT than Jaylen. Dejounte, okongwu plus bogdanovic for Jaylen and Rob.
Please explain how; dejounte is a worse defender. Not a dynamic shooter, a poor advantage creator and has a comically low ts. He’s just a much much worse player than just got extended so he can’t even be traded for a year lol. And bogdanovic can’t be traded for 6 months soooo yeah

crazy talk really, you retain your Allstars and go for it again! not a fan of dismantling a team that's a few games away from banner 18! Do these people work?! hahahahah this board hasn't skipped a beat since we were bumped off by the Heat!

Re: Trade/Free Agency Thread, whose NINE is it anyways?? 2023-24
We’re talking dejounte Murray now ? The same guy who can’t finish well at the rim or shoot 3’s ? The guy with the 54% ts year after year. Without trae on the floor the hawks were absolutely miserable with Dejounte running the show. The guy hits a few middies in a playoff series against us and suddenly half this board forgets about the man’s whole season

Atlanta isn’t trading trae. They’re super high on him with quinn and they’re not trading the best hawks since Dominique. He’s not the same level of player but this is like asking the Celtics to trade Tatum for a lesser player and picks. It doesn’t happen. Trae is a hawk until he asks out
That wouldn't be like the Celtics trading Tatum. Tatum is a top 5 player in the league. Trae is maybe top 20. They're not on the same level.

Relax. Try cooling it with the combative tone. First it was "spare us the fanfic", then it was "swing and a miss" and now it's "score 0 for reading comprehension".
Dejounte just made all-star team right before he got to Atlanta. And he signed an extension that pays $30 mil a year. Same amount as Porzingis. It's not a reach to call him a star, imo.
And my main point was that if there's such a big difference between Trae and Tatum (which you admit) then it's not even worth making the comparison. Again, Donovan Mitchell was the franchise player for Utah and he got traded (and he was much closer in talent to Trae than Tatum is..)
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything

Don't know how I'm going to adjust to these new Celtics penny pinching ways.
he extended him at 30 million, which is less than the max, and is a moveable contract as it is only 2 years long.
He definately gambled that contract wont be an albatros though.
but because of Jaylen Brown's next contract the Celtics have to pinch pennies according to Celtics RealGM, how were the Celtics able to do this? They must have a rich uncle or aunt.
Uh...they gave up depth and all tradeable assets
Smart plus muscala plus gallo plus grant.
That is how they did it
Which is what most of us claim they pushed all in on KP and kow signing jaylen has all but eliminated the mid tier contract making it much harder to deal in the future.
This is what we have veen saying

Worse defender? The guy was a one time steals leader. A 2nd team all defense, and an all star. Jaylen haven’t even cracked all defense lol. He’s also the spurs all time leader in triple doubles despite playing only a few years with them. Jaylen has tunnel vision and can’t dribble. Smh

yeah he had a really good year with the spurs. Not disagreeing there and then he totally mailed it in defensively last year. Idk what to tell you, he was really good and then he wasn't. Maybe he will be again next year but its a position we already have an all defense guy at so idk what that helps us when Dejounte is much too slight to guard wings.

Imagine this board in 1993 if the Celtics gave Kevin Gamble a supermax because he was the 2nd best player on a team that won almost 50 games.
