"not enough Miami skin in the game. The Heat need to work at the trade and pay as much thru the nose as they can

* first thing, they need to make an arrangement to OKC to free up their 2025 1st. I think that's available because I'm sure OKC would prefer the Miami unprotected 2026 pick to the lottery protected 2025 pick. That would free up Miami's 2024 first round pick

* Miami has to give up Caleb Martin. I'm not desperately wanting him for Portland but he is a 6'7 serviceable wing who plays defense, and he's on a tradable contract. Asset value

* Portland gets a swap of Miami's 2029 first

so it would be

Dame + Nurkic out

Lowry + Olynyk + Martin + Jaquez + Jovic + Horton-Tucker (if necessary...might not be)

+ 2024 Miami 1st + 202? Minny 1st + 2028 Miami 1st + 2029 Miam1 1st (swap) + 2030 Miami 1st

if Martin going to another team could fetch Portland more draft capital, that's fine; same with Horton-Tucker. But they'd both have decent value at the trade deadline"

So essentially 7 picks (Jovic and JJ included) + Martin, plus salary relief that comes with offloading Nurkic+ Lowry’s expiring.

I didn’t know we were trying to trade for Prime Lebron.

TBH, I don't even think I move that for Lebron lol. With this we see it's not about "Fair return" it's about "Phuck you". I really don't get it. It's not like we were calling Dame every day for years trying to convince him to dump Portland and come with us. They lost him all on their own by not having competent ownership and FO. He just decided that it was us that he wanted. But yet they are acting as if Riley stole their girl lol. It's amusing

Make no mistake, there is definitely a Phuck you side to this negotiation from Portland's side. They know it will be very difficult for other teams to bid on Dame when he only wants to play with us and this whole predicament is in sound more to the tune of Phuck Miami and Dame and lets make it hard on them, they are just Butthurt.

That was a terrible trade. The Timberwolves are one of the worst organizations in basketball. Miami isn't the successful organization it is today making those kinds of trades. If Portland expects Miami to outbid themselves then I'd rather just move on.

For real.. he went over there to still be an assistant?

Maybe the stability of Spo gave him no hope in the future to make HC?

Eh. We’re committed to the fckery now. We gotta make it work.

This is an important point, the guy already got his neck out by demanding Miami and Miami only, we can not fail now.

exactly.

Dame went out on a limb for us and did what he could.

We do not leave him hanging out there. We see this through.

I didn’t say it was a good trade. I simply implied that there is a precedence.

Seriously? I haven’t heard of that name in a long time.

It’s been years since I’ve been there, but yea… he would frequent the Hard Rock, for sure.

that would be as far as i would go as well.....

I would not put JJJ, caleb or Jovic in it.

I think the going all in on Butler's timeline is a shorter window then most, and without a core who is to say Bam willl even stick around for and empty shelf rebuild.

Team could easily be left with nothing to rebuild with in a few very short years.

didnt know he was/is a gambler he doesnt strike me as such. everyone has their habits i guess. but gambling can and do destroy families. when people loses control then it can be a disaster

To be fair, I don’t know if the man had a gambling problem. I used to go play poker because I enjoyed playing poker, but I never had a gambling problem. Nothing wrong with a little gambling in moderation.

Amid silence from the Miami Heat and Portland Trail Blazers regarding trade deliberations for veteran guard Damian Lillard, outside echoes continue to drive the conversation.

Included among them were the thoughts of former NBA player and assistant coach Evan Turner when it came to the Heat’s perceived offer for his ex-Blazers teammate.

“When they were doing that stuff, Miami Heat tried to send Tyler Herro and Duncan Robinson for a Top 75 player ... hell no,” Turner said on the “No Chill w Gilbert Arenas” podcast on Fubo Sports. “I don’t give a damn if the points match up or the money. I need me a superstar. So I think Portland has to do what makes sense for them.”

That said, Turner said he also appreciated Lillard’s desire to move on from the rebuilding Blazers to a contender.

“Sometimes you gotta go out and find the right situation,” Turner said. “So I’m glad he’s able to do that and put himself in a better position.”

A year ago, the Heat were involved in similar superstar trade negotiations regarding Kevin Durant, with Brooklyn Nets general manager Sean Marks instead waiting for the February NBA trading deadline to move Durant to the Phoenix Suns.

Appearing on SiriusXM NBA radio, Marks said he can appreciate the Blazers general manager Joe Cronin taking a patient approach in the wake of Lillard issuing a mandate to be dealt to the Heat.

“There’s a lot of noise out there,” Marks said. “I certainly understand what Portland is going through right now, what Joe is going through right now. We’ve had to go through that for the last year. It’s not easy. But I think you have to look at this, ‘OK, what’s the best thing for the franchise moving forward?’

“And I think it’s never quite as bad as what people make it out to be. And it’s probably never probably as good as the media or speculation makes it out to be, too. You know what’s going on inside your house, and you manage that. And I think that’s what we’ve managed to do through thick and thin.

“We’ll have to wait and see how Portland goes about this and how they build.”

This is why basketball players have the worse analysis and make terrible GM's.

Your playing math basketball of subtracting a players production because they arent on the team and then replacing them with 0 production like Miami wont have another player take up that slot and produce.

Even if you played that game, Herro didnt play in the playoffs, so amounts to zero sum. Lowry and Vincent get replaced by Lillard who will out produce both of them. Josh Richardson will replace Struss peoduction. Its ridiculous.
