Regardless of your opinion on Brown, Tatum, Brogdon, Williams, Mazzula ect ect the one thing I think every Celtics fan will agree on is they like Jordan Walsh.

He will unite Celtics nation under one banner.

Hopefully more than just one banner.

I see what you did there.

They both offer different things. And having them at training camp allows for a more thorough, accurate evaluation than limiting it to just summer league.

Sure but let’s cut to the chase with it — Balcerowski is a nice player but unlikely to make an impact in the NBA, and he’s apparently got a good career going overseas. Azubuike looks — to me — like he could be a useful change-up option to have on the deep bench. Generally over the last decade+ the Celtics have not gone for this sort of player so it very well may be that their relationship with Azubuike doesn’t extend beyond Summer league — we’ll see.

I feel like Balcerowski might be a better deep bench big for us than Azuibuke.

-Balcerowski has more size (7'1" as opposed to 6'10")
-Balcerowski shows more potential as a passer and as a shooter
-Balcerowski seems to play more mistake-free, fundamentally sound basketball, whereas Azuibuke seems like he makes more mistakes such as moving screens, careless fouls, careless passes, less IQ, less court awareness

One of them has a 7’7” wingspan and 9’1” standing reach https://kuathletics.com/udoka-azubuike-nba-draft/ and could bring a physical dimension the Celtics haven’t had since … old fat Shaq? He’s not there for BBIQ or court awareness. He’s there to finish with authority and block out the sun on defense.

The other you’re describing accurately as someone who might do what Kornet already does for the Celtics. If Balcero can beat out Luke, great. We’ll miss his lemon squares, but all the same to me.

The C's need all the BBIQ they can get. And considering how Porzi, Al and Rob can play the 4, I think there may be room for both Luke and Ball Sir--at least until the trade deadline. I've also seen more opponents steering away from Ball Sir than from Udoka II.

I don't think Balcerowski will take a 2-way position because he can make more money overseas. He can get a 4-year deal, exactly like Walsh's, which is the lowest possible NBA contract, and have the least effect on our cap situation. I would much rather have him on a regular roster spot, while he learns, than any of the free agent big men available that would put us over the 2nd apron. In addition to that, team continuity speaks volumes in the NBA. I like the rotation of Porzingis, (at 7'3), starting and having Kornet (at 7'2), and Balcerowski, at (7'1) backing him up. Being that they are similar in size, the rest of the team can get used to a player of that size being in a certain spot on a certain play and know where the ball needs to go. Same thing with Big Al and RW3. Now neither needs to think about filling in the center spot, and can focus on the PF spot, unless we decide to go small ball for a time. During the regular season, that five-man big line up should keep Porzingis, Big Al and RW# healthy and fresh for the playoffs.

That makes sense up to a point.

But in fact, Rob is a lot closer to playing like Kornet on offense than he is to playing like Al. And on defense a key debate is whether Porzingis can play like Rob.

Balcerowski reminds me of Marc Gasol when Gasol was his age.

Brad Stevens toughest job of the off-season is somehow trying to come up with 2 more two way spots from that current Celtics SL team. Good Luck!

I bet you they won't come off the Celtics SL team but from other teams.

Meh. You can sign any warm, young body to a two-way. It's finding rotation pieces to replace Smart and GWill that's difficult.

Yeah. Doesn't turn 23 till November. He definitely has some potential. Was a key contributor this past season for Gran Canaria, in Spain ACB, the best domestic pro league in the world, after the NBA. He split minutes at the 5 with Khalifa Diop, a Cavs draft and stash guy..

Yeah well we have a different thread to discuss those moves.

And sometimes, guys can start out on a 2-way contract and end up being rotation players (Max Strus, Austin Reaves, Jose Alvarado, etc.)

If Stevens finds the next Max Struss after some other team cuts him, that's great. I'm waiting to see if Miami keeps my binkie Drew Peterson.

Ok. Saturday is 2nd night of a back to back, it's the last game and it's not a playoff game so means nothing.

I hope we put Reggie and Vincent in there, even just for a few mins. I'd feel bad if those guys practiced with the team and sat on the bench every game but never even got a single minute of playing time.

I wouldn't hate it at all if we scooped up Peterson and put him on a 2-way..I figure Miami will probably give him a 2-way but who knows..

He's been on the bench and in uniform for all 3 games. Him and Reggie Kissoonlal have both been DNP's each game. Coincidentally, they're both guys who played in lower tier overseas pro leagues prior to joining the Celtics. So perhaps the highlight vids made them look better than they are, and they can't quite handle the increased competition..

Kissoonlal played for Main in the G-League last year. We know what he is
Bodon is a mystery to me, unless he takes time away from Walsh on SL
