Again this just proves that summer league is a useless measure. If Marjon is bad he'll be bad this year too. There's no reason to project anything based on summer league. He aslo just scored 23/20 in the previous two games so its not like he showed nothing.

I noticed that we didn't hear anything about how bad he is after those games as well!

I’m not going after MarJon. He’s shown enough that he might or might not be something. But yeah, why do you give Livingston that guaranteed deal?

Because he's a sexy teen

It’s entirely dependent. If a guys calling card is scoring then yeah it’s a bad sign, but the only guy like that on the team is Gortman

You've watched a ton of summer league with us over the years. I can recall people seeing Mbah a Moute and feeling like the guy had tools. Frankly most of us saw more out of him than Potsie that first year.

BTW - found a great site on RGM with summer league stats

https://basketball.realgm.com/nba/summer/1/NBA-Summer-League/3/stats/Milwaukee-Bucks/16

Brandon Jennings averaged 8.2 assists and 3.6 steals per game his rookie SL. That was a great week on this board. And Jodie Meeks was the leading scorer on that squad.

If I remember correctly Larry Sanders looked horrible in his last SL stint and then had a breakout year. It’s been a disappointing SL but there is always hope that with NBA caliber players/schemes/roles that they will look different.

Also I would really love to see us start injecting some young talent into this roster but besides the DJ pick being a head scratcher the picks have been fine for where they were taken.

That's a great resource. I forgot that Giannis didn't play in SL his first year. He did play his second year and averaged 17+

I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

What would you say Marjon’s calling card is? Because I honestly don’t know.

Buck pick Jackson Jr. ... Spoke with him... Said the only person he spoke with outside of the summer league team was Kris Middlelton. Wished him good luck... Told him if Giannis starts missing free throws, to tell him to use the backboard. He laughed. Kid is young.

Looked up some role players around the league, guys that many posters including myself would love to see on the Bucks, to see how they did in summer league. Herb Jones 7.6 ppg on 8 attempts and 3 and a half rebounds per. Probably not great for an upperclassman from a power 5 conference (and a coach’s son!) but it worked out for him in the end. Maybe all 3 of these guys will stink, maybe at least one of them gives you some Herb Jones production that you don’t have to trade for.

I'm just saying summer league is a worthless measure. Some/all of these guys might be total busts (not that they were drafted high), but their performance is summer league isn't something that really gives me any indication if they are nba players or not.

Jae’sean Tate 7 and 4 with 5 fouls per. If Livingston is Jae’sean Tate for two years at the league minimum, is that a bad outcome for the last pick in the draft?

Am I crazy or is it kinda disappointing that Giannis hasn’t reached out to him?

Khris probably called him to teach him how to make it from the second round to being an all star by being lazy, and an alcoholic.

Tate played overseas a few years before making it in the NBA so yeah, that would be a bad outcome. The irony is Tate was injured on our Summer League team his true rookie season and didn’t get to play.

It's one thing for a raw 19 year old to struggle on summer league, but marjon is damn near 23 and has 12 months of NBA training. He should be pretty polished at this point. I don't think he has so much raw talent that he can still be polished into a starter but I hope I'm wrong.

I am beginning to believe the same thing. Also knowing that AG is a defense expert, makes me worried a bit already for our offense, seeing that even in the SL the offense is very insipid. I had begun to be worried a bit about that even earlier when I heard that Stotts was hired coz he was an offensive expert.

I hope these concerns are misplaced but the last 2 SL games were not particularly notable for our offense at all. At least Bud didn’t need a separate asst coach who would have to be a specialist in offense or defense as the case might be.

You would think in the last ten years the Bucks would stumble into drafting a keeper.

It makes sense since we we’re nothing with Kidd and turned into instant world beaters as soon as we got Bud. We will regret getting rid of Popovich Jr. He will be paid Monty Williams money pretty easily on his next contract.

That is baffling. Gortman is one of the few that has shown something but they keep giving guys like Nico and Wigginton big minutes even though they don’t seem to have any NBA future.

Good thing is Moore is already on a two way, so he’ll get tons of time with the Herd and be on the bench in case of emergency some games with the Bucks.

Hopefully Gortman gets the open two way spot as well because I think he would show out with the Herd.

And Timme has looked great on offense to me. The offense just looks better with him out there because he moves without the ball, knows where to be, makes quick smart decisions, and finishes around the rim. Maybe he won’t be able to defend at all so he’ll never make it but he’s a craftier Mamu to me.

Thought Gortman already accepted a two way

I thought it was he and his agent said he had one but the team has yet to make any official announcement.
