Did you get a chance to pick up some tomato powder?

Brother if you need Worcestershire powder or tomato powder I have enough to last until the Sun wipes us all out in a glorious explosion.

I ordered old SNES Star Fox game off of EBAY. I used to own it back in the day. But figured why not I'll buy it. I sold tons of games back in the day. Wished I had 'em all now.

Jeeeeeeesus lol.

That GPU by itself costs damn near what my entire build did. That thing is going to be an absolute beast.

Yeah, it's probably overkill for someone that spends the majority of their gaming time on Valheim, Land of Vikings and Marvel Snap. Can't wait to get back into CyberPunk with it, though.
Valheim is going to look amazing

Nothing new here about the game itself, but a nice rundown of all the classes. I'm not familiar with 5E (or their house rules) so there has been some new info for me. Still think I'm locked in on that shadow monk, but gloom stalker ranger and the sorcerer sound dope. And I always love a Cleric. Going to be a tough choice to make.
Gloom stalker ranger? I'm intrigued.

I was thinking of starting as a Dragonborn Monk for my first playthrough.

For those of you who have built a pc before - besides the CPU, CPU cooler, motherboard, RAM, SSD, GPU, case and PSU, is there anything else I need to buy? Either necessary or that just looks cool?

Nope that’s the bare necessities. Highly recommend getting a monitor that supports your resolution (think you mentioned you had this already), new mouse and keyboard, a big mousepad for your desk, some rgb lights/strimmers if you’re into that, if your motherboard doesn’t have wifi you’ll need to get a WIFI adapter(most of them slide into one of the pci slots on your motherboard)

Cool, thanks! Yeah, for now I'm hooking it up to my tv. I did get RAM and my cooler with RGB, so I'm going to see how I like that before expanding (although I did see what look like mini nanoleaf panels for inside the case that intrigue me). I did forget about a keyboard though, good call. I guess thinking about it I should probably get a controller too - I think I'm too old to learn how to play games with a keyboard.

you are never too old. My dad started playing computer games again for the first time in 30 years probably. he puts in a solid 1-3 hours a day after work. Some AAA games are much better with controller though. Hogwarts Legacy is a good example where parts of the game were unplayable with mouse and key.

If you plan to play online with others, a headset is a good idea. If you get a controller get an Xbox one, they just work flawlessly with PCs.

I hadn't touched BG3 Beta in almost a year and a half - purposefully - but I'm itchy and just started playing around with character creation again and playing the first hour or so with a couple potential builds. So much has been added. Still feeling like I'll end up playing the shadow monk, but I'm really torn because there's so much fun stuff here. In such a long game though, first playthrough I feel like I want to find the right fit.

I love Clerics, but plan to bring Shadowheart along so probably ruling that out. Likewise with Wyll, so probably ruling Warlock out also even tough it was very fun when I played it a couple years ago.

Sorcerer sounds so dope and I love roleplaying an elven mage. Or elven anything - I'm also a big archer fan, so an elven ranger gloom stalker sounds awesome. And I haven't even considered multiclass.

When BG3 comes to the PS5 in September I'm gonna play it, I'm sure. Never played a D&D game before. Am I gonna be completely lost?

No they’ve done a great job with introducing the systems to you

It was my first as well and it was easy to pick up and learn. I’m very excited for it.

Story or mechanics? For story, there’s hints that the story will connect to 1 & 2 in ways for long time fans, but it’s not necessary for comprehension and does a good job of onboarding you. For mechanics, D&D’s DNA is basically in every video game RPG and you’ll pick it up fast. Six key stat attributes, the classes each have a primary stat, optimize from there. Pretty straightforward.

Magic is maybe the biggest "hurdle." Not that it's hard to pick-up, but quite a bit different. Some classes will have their own mechanics switch this up a bit, but ultimately you have a set number of spells you can cast per day - not per battle - and you'll need to camp to replenish them. Depending on your class, you may also need to plan-out which spells you expect to use each time you camp, e.g. this time I'm resting, I'll memorize 3x magic missile, 1x charm, 1x fireball, etc.

There are a bunch of ways to kind of get around it, and sorcerer doesn't have to plan which spells to use each sleep (but does on level-up), but at the end of the day that's the combat mechanic that's most different from mainstream, mana-based RPGs IMO.

Make sure to delete all the bloatware on it. By this I mean make a clean copy of W10 or W11 on usb and then reinstall windows.

And if it's prebuilt, check the ram speed in bios. A friend recently got a prebuilt from NZXT and they had their ram running at half the speed of its capabilities.
