Re: 99 Problems: The PJ Washington Jr. Thread
This stuff is why I'm not that excited about the new owners. They're a hedge fund dude who has a terrible reputation because of the Gamestop stuff and another hedge fund dude with little to no info available.
They seem more like owners who view teams as investment property. Not rich dudes who want to own a pro-sports team and do stuff with it, like Tepper and Balmer.

The new owner of the Suns came right in and started making moves in an effort to build a contender. Some of those moves may have been rash, but at least he's trying. Meanwhile our new owners haven't even bothered to address the fans or the media.
How much longer can fans put up with this crap?

You do realize they’re not even the new owners yet right? That won’t happen until next week I believe. There were never going to be changes until the end of this offseason at the earliest. The Suns stuff was figured out well ahead of that.

I can't find a single quote from Plotkin or Schnall on the acquisition. The only thing I came across is this in the CBJ from good ole' Felix -
“I’m excited,” Sabates told CBJ, referring to the investor group headed by Plotkin and Atlanta Hawks minority owner Rick Schnall. “These guys want to win. They’re going to put up the money. And they’re young enough to do it. I’ve got shoes older than these guys.”
Anticipate we'll hear something from them once the ink dries.

So its not just roommates, siblings or relatives of MJ. Mitch is complicit as well. We are throughly unserious.
i saw that. i did a deep dive of the entire front office a few months ago to see who in the FOM crowd were still around. I'm sure cousin greg is hanging around somewhere with an inflated title.

We are the worst franchise in the NBA and bottom 5 in all of professional sports right now right there with the Oakland A's, Detroit Lions, Cleveland Browns and Arizona Coyotes....so...nowhere to go but up lol

I won't take the new owners seriously until they fire Mitch. It should be the first thing they announce once the sale gets finalized.

Re: 99 Problems: The PJ Washington Jr. Thread
Spoiler:
Two things from this article (if accurate) stand out:
1) "Mitch Kupchak and Steve Clifford held the large voices any general manager and head coach should have when deciding to select Brandon Miller instead of Scoot Henderson."
and
2) "Washington has not drawn an offer from the Hornets that reaches Stewart’s salary figure, sources said, of $16 million per season."
WTF are we doing if we haven't even offered him Beef Stew money? I'd take the QO if I were him too and just go get $20m somewhere else next season if I were him. I don't know how this franchise continues to over-pay bad players and under-offer good ones. I'd dump Terry and give PJ his contract in an instant if I could - yet there was ZERO hesitation to drop $20+m on a very inefficient Terry a year before it was even necessary.

Re: 99 Problems: The PJ Washington Jr. Thread
I think just about everything operationally is on hold until the sale is complete. Everything else that gets squeezed out from the front office is noise at this point. NOTHING is known or resolved. The Melo contract was a no-brainer. Bridges is taking a great big risk, but it's what I'd do. It's in PJ's best interest to wait until the new owners take over so the new regime can get the good vibe PR bump with a solid re-signing. I feel that the deal will get done.

I would rather have PJ over virtually everyone on that list outside of maybe Herb Jones and I'd put him almost on par with Grant Williams with PJ getting the slight edge because I think he's better offensively.

"The NBA is a people business, at some point, squeezing a guy like this is gonna speak volumes"
this has been my stance for a while. its a bad look.

Mediocre
Should've been traded last season anyway

nahh
I used to feel like that but I don't believe that stuff anymore. its more like this:
x infinity when it comes to PJ ***ing Washington
paying PJ Washington more than we need to for some kind of goodwill isn't gonna do a damn thing for this team. That was the same logic people used to trash on us for not supermaxing Kemba
