Froob wrote:Siakam is a lateral move at best, plus he's looking for 4/192 in FA, do you really want to pay Siakam 48M a year for a guy that can't play a lot of minutes with Tatum and Porzingis? Anyone making big money, needs to be able to play with our best players.

I see no reason why those 3 couldn't play a lot of minutes together. Tatum at the 3, Siakam at the 4, Porzingis at the 5.

You could even occasionally go with a bigger lineup with rob or al in there with Porzingis as double bigs, with Tatum and Siakam on the wings. But Rob or al would probably be traded, if we got Siakam..

Also, while JB for Siakam may be a lateral move, they're comparable players but at least Siakam gives you better playmaking - something that would be huge if you've got 3 high usage, high scoring guys on the same team.

And while it may be a lateral move, you're at least getting a star player in return. If things go south with JB, we could end up losing him for nothing.

Plus, it may be a lateral move but I better financial move - since you could pay Siakam much less $ than you would have to pay JB on a supermax..

Not that intrigued by paying Siakam even the regular max at age 34. Think Brown at 32 on a superish max is still better value, both on-court and trade.

It's all about 2-3 year windows. Siakam will be 31 in 2 years and he'll be 32 in 3 years. Windows of more than 3 years don't really exist in today's NBA.

Also, Siakam didn't even play in the NBA till he was 22. He wasn't a full-time starter till he was 24. And he didn't play very much his rookie year. Here's how many NBA minutes (including playoffs) each of them played, through their age 23 season:

Siakam: 2,727
JB: 9,084

The Dallas Mavericks signed Dante Exum to a two-year, $6.15 million deal, league sources told @hoopshype. Exum’s salary for the 2024-25 season is non-guaranteed.

Apparently Isaiah Stewart can be traded because he signed a rookie extension...? Is he poison-pill? I'd give up a ton of 2nds and a 1st - maybe GSW 1st... Great fit here, defensive identity and temperament.. Now on an affordable contract.

Great fit before we added Porzingis. At this point, I don't know about paying that kind of money and giving up those types of assets for a 4th big.

Also, DET probably gave him that extension with the intention of keeping him. And he wouldn't be too happy about coming here and getting less playing time as the 4th big, as he's entering his prime..

I think the odd man out in Detroit is Bagley. Although he is obviously has less trade value than Stewart..

Boston does this. Portland does this. OKC becomes a real player in the west if they do this deal. Giddey-SGA-JB-Jaylin Williams-Chet. Wowzers. Toronto I'm not sure would do this deal. Depends how they feel about Brogdon VS Trent JR

Why does Jaylen Brown do this?

Why does OKC do this?

Why does Toronto do this?

Just checking in and yep the brown haters are still delusional. Lol 100% brad and brown are on same page and just need to do a lil something else before they sign him and I 100% know this supermax deal will be as team friendly as it can be.
Brown's #1 fan on this forum.

Cool stuff but this off-season was the complete opposite. Harden couldn’t get a long term deal, Irving had to force himself to the one team that would pay him, Van Vleet got two years. Beal got shipped out. Even Zinger only got two more years.

Teams aren’t going long on old guys. I started saying a week ago Siakam wasn’t going to return much and all the reporting is continuing to lean that way since and it’s because teams don’t want the length the players want anymore esp for older/non-elite guys.

Brown might be overpaid but he’s way less likely to be a trash contract and that’s a huge difference.

Rob Williams is practicing dribbling from up top into a baseline midrange pullup. It’s over for the rest of the league.
