Sabrina Ionescu catches fire in 3-point shootout

Post#1 » by BobbyPortisEyes » Fri Jul 14, 2023 11:51 pm

Probably there's a WNBA board but I thought this was General Board worthy. Haven't ever seen someone catch fire like this in a contest setting, it's like she's shooting at an empty gym. It's a beautiful thing when somebody is in a trance-like zone.

Sabrina Ionescu sets 3pt contest record: 37/40 points, 20 in a row

Post#3 » by ellobo » Sat Jul 15, 2023 12:14 am

[Edit: My bad, didn't see this was already posted. Thanks for merging.]

37 out of 40 possible points in the final round of the WNBA all-star three point contest, including 20 in a row. Previous highs were 31 by Steph and Haliburton in the NBA, and 30 by Allie Quigley in the WNBA.

That was NIICCEE!

Even slightly quick released some, but the body flow was just there. Greatest feeling when your body is just in a rythmn and everything is going in.

Oregon probably wins it all if that tourney didn't get cancelled.

Outstanding.

Interesting that she has a little tornado on some of, if not all of, her shots, to a degree. And her form is fantastic. Just one of those things. If it goes in, it goes in.

She's an amazing shooter ofc, but should point out WNBA ball is slightly smaller if I recall

Cool story, but the ball is smaller and the 3 point line is closer.

It's all relative though because they have smaller hands

Jesus… not everything is a comparison. This is impressive because the level of form consistency and rhythm she got into. She legit caught fire and some of you are comparing this to the NBA? Y’all should just sit back and appreciate it for what is; an incredible display of shooting. My god

I don’t care if it’s shorter, that was impressive.

It’s not all relative because a smaller ball gives the shooter a better chance of making the shot but it’s very impressive regardless.

Especially with the rim being the same size.

But it looks like they actually changed the 3 point line to the international distance a couple of years ago, so now only about a foot and a half difference from centre and a foot from the corner compared to the NBA.

She’s nice. She can catch these basketBALLS

Warning: Inappropriate innuendo. Plenty to praise in the achievement without resorting to this. It's what we want to steer away from.

That’s true. But I don’t think they were making comparisons. Just pointing it out in case anyone was wondering.

But the WNBA themselves are making the comparison

I agree with you. These are separate contests and they should keep it separate. Bringing the NBA into it is just pointless and diminishes her spotlight tbh
