I was very disappointed to see how poorly he boxes out as a rebounder.

Not sure if intentional but it's spelled Filipino. But if that's also the way you want to insult a country and the people, that's fine too. (i don't disagree with you on "laughing" at the angry emojis, am a Filipino and do it all the time too-- not for the badge but it's a genuine laugh at the dumb takes.)

From the 13 minutes of playing time he had, this is an apt observation. In our national team, we want him to be tougher too. Maybe it's his age and/or his style of play as he's more finesse than brute force naturally.

He'll get major playing time in the FIBA World Cup so his physicality will really be tested and we're hoping his stint in Australia, Japan and Vegas has at least taught him that he can use his physical traits more and try bully ball for a change.

It's not the best situation for him with Orlando, since you're currently on a rebuilding mode and you already have players in his position that will be ahead of him even as a project role (you just released a lanky guy in Bol Bol so am guessing you don't want any more projects) so it's not unexpected that he won't make the roster or G League or wherever. Not sure if other teams are interested, but likely no as well, so he's likely back to Japan where he plays professional ball.

Hahaha, my man. I have no problem with people backing their guy, but the militant homerism about Kai has been wild

I'm surprised that the Philippines hasn't produced more NBA players. At least they have Spoelstra.

Orlando is not rebuilding this season. The goal is to move from bad to mediocre. A 41-win season and the play-ins is the goal. Winning every game is the goal. Sotto is not better than the 15 men under contract. He is not better than the current two-way player K-Harris. Assuming that Admiral Schofield is resigned to a two-way deal, that means Orlando has one two-way contract left.

If you are a Filipino fan, that's what you are holding out for, Sotto being the 18th best Magician.

Personally I think Rob Baker has shown a lot and is more in line to that final contract.

Full agreement here. There are some nice guards. You'd think a Carlos Arroyo-type player would have emerged from the Philippines given how basketball mad that country is.

It’s not the best situation for him in ORL, since they’re an NBA team and he’s not close to being an NBA level player

No, i didn't spell wrong intentionally, i was at my phone and didn't check out.

Also my intentions weren't to insult anybody, let alone whole country, but whole thing is just hilarious. There is facebook page named "Fire Coach Dylan Murphy Now Orlando Magic Head Coach Summer League" opened 2 days ago.

They were also cheering against Orlando in their comments just because Kai didn't play.

Should i say that his interview on facebook has 121 000 likes where normal Magic related stuff has like, in regular season , 3 000 at most?

Like i understand, there isn't many good Filipino sportspeople and country is hoping he makes NBA roster, but it's Summer League for crying out loud. I'm from Croatia, and you will never see some Pelicans nor Utah hate comments because Matković or Samanic aren't playing or aren't featured in SL action more. I hope he DOES play more i tho, and finds himself new professional contract somwhere. But he simply isn't NBA level talent.

This last game and even the one before, is about players auditioning for Osceola and/or one of the two-way contracts.

I don’t see anyone as a player I want on a two-way contract on our current summer league.

It's probably because the people with Carlos Arroyo's height ( 6'1ish )instead of playing pure PG they instead make them play into SFs because they aren't that tall.

Also, their style of play... I don't think most of them do not understand the difference between "physical" play and "dirty" play.

Thoughts on Rob Baker? I love his game and his metrics. No reason he can't be Mr. 18th man for Orlando (I am assuming Schofield will become Mr. 17 given that he was at Vegas with the team).

Thanks for the note, but East mediocrity is almost as bad as just go total rebuild but good luck in that aim to at least battle for a play-in. You'll always have a good shot since you're in the weak Eastern Conference.

As for Kai, he's not even among the Top 10 prospects in your Summer League squad, i doubt he has a real shot of being considered. His best chance to making the NBA is impressing in the FIBA World Cup and maybe a G League offer after that. If none, he's going to get stuck in Japan or Australia for the rest of his career (His worst case scenario is landing in our local league, where he'll be a legit superstar, but really empty stats and titles for what was once a promising "international" prospect).
