Payne and his mysterious foot injury/inconsistent production is still better than Bol by a wide margin. The accumulation of draft picks + trade exceptions points to another move coming soon. McConnell would be a great pickup.

Lee was and is already better than Payne.

Only way you get McConnell is in an Ayton trade, can't combine trade exceptions.

Decent move, gives us an extra roster spot and a TPE for more flexibility.

Payne was an injury risk and a poor fit with this roster even when he's healthy. You could replace his production with the minimum, wonder if Mike James could be an option as someone Durant trusts.

I don't get Ishbia's weird fascination with Bol Bol, he couldn't cut it on a losing team why do we need to sign him to a guaranteed contract when he's probably not going to see meaningful minutes?

We better have another deal in the works otherwise this is a really weird move just to save a few bucks when Ishbia seems intent on paying as much as possible in order to win?

Not comfortable with the only true point guards on the roster being Goodwin and Lee!!

This off season sure has shaped up to be pretty spicy and a lot more interesting than I anticipated. All that's left is moving Ayton. Seeing Vogel has an interest in trying to reform him, I wonder how long it'll be before even he gets fed up with his lack of effort and drive?

Booker, Beal, Goodwin, Gordon, Lee, who I liked better than Payne, no issues at pg in my opinion...

Heat didn’t have a traditional pg and went to the final this year. I mean they had Lowry but he’s 35+ yo not the prime 19 finals Lowry. Suns should be fine even if we don’t land another pg since Booker, Beal, KD, Lee can all contribute in that area.

I liked Payne and he had some great moments as a Sun but I get not wanting to spend $18 mil on a guy you're not projecting to be in the rotation.

Suns are going to be a big/long team this year.

The trade exemption could come in handy at the deadline.

$26.4M in tax savings after the Payne trade and Bol signing., from Marks, so actually a lot more savings

Yeah I guess! Eric Gordan played pg for the Rockets under Dantoni and could even handle some of that load if need be.

TOO wrote:So he further tanks whatever value he has because again he just couldn't hack it for another coach. Who would be at fault this time?

I'd love for him to ball out and this whole narrative disappear, but can't say that I'm confident in that based on history.

His best season was the finals run season and he put up a measly 14/10 if I recall. Coincidence?

That was one of his better offensive seasons, probably his second best after 21-22 though as he did that on 10 shots per game...14.4 ppg which was 1.44 points per shot, which is pretty elite, particularly for players with shots in the double digits.

And 10 rpg may not be elite but it was 9th in the NBA among Cs so top 30%.

Murray isn't a traditional point guard Joker ran point 80 percent of the time, very few teams have a traditional pg anymore.

Yeah even the owners who spend don't like to just burn cash.
