Well you’re missing that they don’t have guys like white or rob or Horford or brogdon under reasonable contracts; it’s all stars or minimum. You’re missing that because of this roster construction they’re extremely shallow. You’re maybe missing that because of this roster construction the 2nd apron doesn’t matter as much to them as they’ve bargained away any flexibility they might have anyway.

Spending into the 2nd apron essentially locks you j to your roster. It gets extremely hard to make trades and just bring in new players. Best you can do is keep your own but the suns have 0 assets to which they can make trades anyway. The Celtics oth have a lot of ability to make roster moves over the next season and to adjust the current roster; spending into 2nd apron hampers that a lot.

And lastly they’re not signing everyone; it’s literally all minimums

Of course their signings have been minimums but isn't that still counting even if it's 2-4m? I know we have all the smaller contracts but it seems like their 4 will equal nearly the same amount of money our entire team makes for this and next season(?). Not including the jays, it feels like KD's money can pay for everyone else on our team alone... I know I'm probably exaggerating by a mile, but I know KD and maybe half of Beal could probably get close. I definitely don't know any numbers just thinking about how large max is already.

Their stars cost a little less than

Tatum/Brown/Zinger/White/Brogs/Al/Rob combined.

Having said that, they are above the 2nd apron so they can only sign vet mins from here on out. There is no hard cap but they are completely hamstrung to make basically any other move.

They have two TPEs in the 5-6.5M range and second rounders they can use in a trade. But yeah, in terms of signings, it's all vet minimum for them.

Brad likes dudes that are big. When he says wing I think he’s looking for 6’6”+, or at least a big/long wing. Brad doesn’t do shrimps.

Edit: Maybe the Hamidou Diallo idea isn’t dead. They’ve still got enough shooting for a wing that attacks the rim with athleticism.
Edit2;
After posting a 93rd-percentile defensive estimated plus-minus in 2021-22, soon-to-be-25-year-old Hamidou Diallo pushed his way to the 99th percentile this season.

Thanks to his 7'0" wingspan and above-the-rim athleticism, he has posted strong defensive rebound and steal rates for a 6'5" guard/wing.

Combining that with a more concerted effort to take shots around the rim (which gave Diallo by far his career-best effective field-goal percentage) makes him a more dynamic two-way threat.

I feel like someone's said it before, but I've come around on the Brogdon for Hield/Delon idea. Work it into an IND Siakam trade so he goes to TOR instead of back to IND.

That said, I'm also completely fine keeping Brogdon and just signing a 4th PG (or combo that leans pt) for insurance and another PF type.

I wouldn't hate it if we picked up Diallo. You can't teach that type of explosiveness/athleticism. We can work with him on the other stuff - still just 24.

And being that good defensively gives him a fairly high floor.

I do really like it. Good size but great wingspan, good strength, great run/jump athlete. Might overlap with Walsh though possibly if that’s a factor.

More I look at it though I think the Aaron Wiggins idea is on point. Very much what this front office likes and they’ve made lots of moves with OKC. He wouldn’t have a ton of minutes compared to other spots but wouldn’t surprise if they discussed a longer term commitment so it works for all parties.

Who cares, really, who the next 11th man is going to be?

Stevens gutted the team and now he has to sew it back together. The issues go far beyond the players available on the waiver wire.

Yeah, hadn't ever really paid much attention to Wiggins or looked into him much. But he's got some skill.

Really like the play at 1:34. Didn't know he had this kind of creation ability.

He's on a bargain contract. Perhaps we snag him with the Grant TPE..

Walsh/Brissett is probably going to be in that range. Brissett would be one of the better 10-12th option guys in the league.

Just trade Champs and seconds for him.

Real glue guy type, lower usage but not super low. Very much a spot up there or at the rim guy, looks just low friction as they say.

I detailed out some minutes and there was close to around a 1000 minutes available based on what they lost last year (not counting decreased minutes for older guys like Al/Brog), so I think this move makes a ton of sense. Esp since he could be resigned and given a larger role down the road so it’s not necessarily just a rental.

Fits the theme of getting bigger as well (ie, getting White/Brogs back to the 1 instead of the 2, adding Zinger and assuming more double bigs etc))

Wiggins has a team option for the 24-25 season, so it would only be a rental if we want it to be. If we wanted to keep him, we'd have him for 2 yrs on that dirt cheap contract, before having to extend him..

You don't think we could use a solid wing off the bench who can score/pass/defend?

I feel pretty comfy with the idea of a Brogdon/A. Wiggins/Hauser/Brissett/RobWill bench. PP and Kornet getting good run as third string specialist guys.

Two of the leagues better guys from three, one of the better defenders in the league, couple of solid young but not too young energy/glue guys.

Also really good size at 6’5”, 6’6”, 6’8”, 6’7” and Rob sized.
