Why would you even want to trade Timelord for Embiid? When he hasn't even made the conference finals yet? Big Rob has been to three ECFs and the Finals!

Probably? They can space for each other, at least. They'd be closer to AD/Cousins in mobility and fit than Rob/Al, Mobley/Allen, other double bigs..
meh Joey wouldn't know what to do with that Double Big lineup. It's the complete opposite of the bland offense we've been running. "Live and Die by the Three"..... Now if you said this before the Zinger trade , then it would have been a homerun! Not trying to be the Timberwolves of the East....
I’m thinking more defensively. I think offensively they’re skilled enough to make it more than work, but are we just going to get killed with 3’s and midrange while we pack the paint?

Not saying the Celtics wouldn't be in it, this is just the current odds

Most of the biggest names traded in recent years were intraconference trades.
AD to Lakers
PG13 to Clippers
Harden to Sixers
Kyrie to Celtics
Gobert to Timberwolves
On the other hand, Kawhi, Mitchell and KD were traded to the other conference.

Knicks would have a competitive offer. So would the Cavs.

Yeah, it's like arguing that Greg Kite is so much better than player X,Y,Z because he made conference finals and even NBA finals several times on extraordinarily talented teams. You see that a lot.

There's only like 9 guys in the league on a supermax right now. Not 60.
Only team in the league with 2 supermax guys is minnesota and they're definitely not a team where you want to go by their blueprint haha. No titles ever, people are still mocking them for everything they gave up for Gobert, when they already had a star center and Gobert has a very limited offensive game.
I'm saying in the NBA, there will be up 60 slots for supermax players. I agree that many teams will waste money on guys that don't deserve it and dig themselves into holes.
Even if there are only 30 slots in the league, Jaylen Brown would be deserving of one.
Please enlighten me how are there 60 slots for supermax players. What does that even mean? Using your rationale, on any given team with 50% vets (guys out of rooke deals) there are 7 to 8 max contract slots. Do you think the 120th player is therefore deserving of a max?
I'm saying each team could sign 2 supermax slots at most before tax implications get too brutal as they can each take up to 35% of the cap.
so 30 teams= 60 potential supermax deals in the NBA. If so, Jaylen easily takes one of those.
Hope that makes sense.
One day Marcus Smart will be defensive player of the year, mark my words.

So pairing Lillard with JT isn't ideal?
From a financial standpoint, no.
From purely a basketball standpoint, I'd probably say that being able to pair a top 5 player in the league (Tatum) with a top 10 player in the league (Lillard) is worth it. I'd also rather have Dame a top 10 player in the league who is a good fit with Tatum + Porzingis) on a supermax, as opposed to someone who is a top 20-30 player in the league (JB), who is a worse fit with Tatum since they play the same position, have lots of overlap and neither of them is a 30% or higher assist guy or an all-NBA level defender.
I'm not sold on a top 7 of Zinger, Al, Rob, Tatum, DWhite, Lillard & Brogdon being better than Zinger, Al, Rob, Tatum, Brown, DWhite & Brogdon.
Yes, the offense is better, but the team is smaller and is not as good on defense.

Board has basically morphed into Knicks' fans anyways, slobbering and conniving over every disgruntled jack rabbit across the league.

Question is whether the Knicks would deal Randle or try to pair him

Oh c'mon now. You could just say that about any trade, where 1 player is clearly better than another. You could that that about the POrzingis trade. POrzingis is clearly WAY better, but you could have said "Oh I'm not sold we're a better team - with Smart, we'd have better defense, better passing and a deeper backcourt.
Not only is Lillard a much better player than JB, he's got much better handles, better clutch time player, MUCH better playmaker (more than double the assist % on basically the same usage %). Lillard also has much less overlap with our best player (Tatum) and by adding Lillard, we wouldn't be forced to play a guy as our starting PG who has never been a starting PG for a playoff team before (White).

Add Lamar Stevens to the list of wings that we could possibly sign to a minimum contract..
Brad seems to like acquiring guys who played well vs us. And one of the games we lost to cleveland this season, the cavs brought Stevens off the bench randomly after he was sitting for most of the game, and then he played very solid for them Solid D, grabbed some boards, hit a 3. He played a pivotal role in Cleveland getting that win over us.

You are not replacing Jaylen with Dame on defense. You replace Jaylen with Tatum on defense. So the defense for the starting/closing lineup will improve drastically.
You go from White - Brown (playing out of position where he's overmatched) - Tatum - Porzingis - Rob/Horford *or a small lineup with Jaylen at 3 and Tatum at 4 to Dame - White - Tatum - Porzingis - Rob/Horford.
You have a guy who can be attacked but on the other hand we are playing more drop anyway so we could just not switch or scram switch. There's way to deal with that.

I have so many thoughts on this.
#1 I can't wait for the GM/Owner or Governor who says no that's not how this is gonna go. You signed a contract with The trailblazers or Heat and we will decide what we want to do with this contract. I want to see if a player is really going to sit out the NBA season.
#2 the nba missed out cause the CBA just got ratified. But IMO it would be so much better if there was an actual mechanism where players had to file something as a trade request. And as that trade request they had a minimum and maximum teams they would be traded too. Like let's say the min is 4 teams and the max is 12. They could only ask for trade after so many years with said team as a minimum. The team would receive a comp pick from the NBA (like a sandwich pick) in between the 1st and 2nd round. Like just some things to be able to protect teams.
It's hard enough for small market teams to build and then as soon as players re-up their max money they can ask out the next year. The players basically understand it's take as much as you can get and then ask out and force your way to where you want to go. You basically get your cake and get to eat it.
