What are the Bulls under the tax? Wood could fit under that, but I doubt PJ Washington would. I thought it was around 5 million?

Hard pass on any "cancers". If we're gonna place value on continuity and chemistry, which isn't unreasonable IMO, these should be avoided.
And before anyone chimes in with "but but but Dennis Rodman". He was eccentric, but far from a cancer.

Re: Bulls threat to sign Christian Wood
According to sources familiar with the team’s free-agent pursuits but not authorized to speak publicly, the Chicago Bulls are suddenly viewed as a potential threat that could keep the Lakers from landing Wood.
The reason? Chicago recently got a $10.2-million player exception because of Lonzo Ball’s knee injury that’s expected to keep him off the court next season. The Bulls can use some or all of that money to acquire a player via trade or sign a player to a one-year free-agent deal.
And, this might be surprising, but with the Lakers able to offer only the veteran’s minimum (worth $2,463,490 for a player with seven years of service time), there’s more financial incentive elsewhere.
That Lonzo DPE might get used after all.

7 teams in 7 years ouch. Objectively he's close to the exact type of player I want to get heavy minutes. Seems like he'd clash with our current system of "our 3 guys do what they want and everyone else sit the eff back".

Wood would be so perfect. Sure, there is at least a 50/50 chance he'll be sent packing, but if he could do what he does well and not be a distraction, a bench of Coby, Caruso, Pat, Wood, Drummond would likely be a huge plus lineup.

Re: Bulls threat to sign Christian Wood
If his current free agency situation has humbled him, could be a great pickup. If you are going to double down on the current team, this is the kind of bet you have to make.
Not sure how Chicago makes it work financially without paying the tax.

Re: Bulls threat to sign Christian Wood
Wood I get, but I don't see how they have any ammunition to get PJ unless they're offering up Pat in a S&T.
PJ for Pat is probably the kind of 2 steps forward, 1.75 steps back move the Bulls would seriously consider.
If we're being honest about it, PJ is a better fit at PF. He's also 3 years older than Pat, and while he's better on offense, he doesn't have anything like Pat's defensive range. Pat, I think, can credibly guard most wings, and that's something that's valuable. PJ can't.
Because of that, I think this is the kind of trade that further caps the Bulls potential going forward and I wouldn't do it. The right might move is to hold onto Pat and play him where he fits, as the 3. DeMar is a better player, but he's 33. I'm not one who thinks DeMar should be traded to make room for Pat, but I think Pat can earn the job if he stays in the long run.

Best worst player in the league, or worst best player?. I've never read anything positive about this guy. If signed he better be cheap because they may have to flat out waive him by mid-season. But who knows? maybe he is finally getting a wake up call that he needs to grow up?

I'm not clear on what PJ Washington does well, if anything.

Man, that's such a legit second unit lineup.
But you know what's gonna end up happening is Billy will sit him and Drummond (DNP: too tall) so he can play Caruso at the 4 and Pat the 5. We just lost our other C after all when he declined his player's option.

Re: Bulls threat to sign Christian Wood
I could see it simply because its a low risk high reward type of situation for the Bulls.
The Bulls would not be committing to him long term and Wood would need a successful season both on and off the court to help rehab his image.
Another angle is that when Wood got traded to Detroit and played with Drummond the season Drummond got moved to Cleveland . They are on good terms that year and with Drummond battling his own league perception issues and following a similar path as Drummond went to LA for that year .I could see him selling Wood on what a good group of guys we have here and the chance to try and win and rehab that image and hity free agency again next season .

I think this is important. The Bulls want to double down on this current unit, they need to bring in a high risk high reward player. Add something to the mix. He makes sense for us. We don’t have enough to go in any direction. At least with this, it makes things interesting. Maybe even too 4-5 in the East interesting.

This is a **** kind of statement by some anonymous guy I've never heard of.
If you're going to say the guy is a "cancer", provide some evidence. Just saying he was on a bunch of teams isn't evidence. Was Jeremy Lin a locker room cancer? He was on 8 teams in 9 years? Ish Smith has been on 13 teams in 13 years? He must be a cancer. It happens with a lot of guys who start their careers off undrafted and on crummy teams that are always changing directions.
The only guy I've ever heard of having a problem with him is Jason Kidd. He obviously had a problem with Jason Kidd... or Jason Kidd had a problem with him. But Kidd is, beyond being a documented drunk driver, alcolhic, and serial domestic batterer, a guy on his third gig as an NBA coach, and who left a path of drama in his wake at pretty much all of them.

Not sure if he’s a great fit next to Vuc if starting but still PJ is a solid player who is a good 3pt shooter.Would be a very good signing and would definitely make a difference.

Re: Bulls threat to sign Christian Wood
I know some of us wish we could land all the all stars but unfortunately we just not in a position to land those guys so getting guys like wood is the kind of risk you have to take and hope it works out for you. If it doesn't then it's 1 year and you move on. If it does you retain him at a decent price.
He does fill a need and he is young and athletic. Issue with him is his defense. But maybe Billy can stagger the line ups enough where it doesn't hurt us
Let me also say for as much as some are worried about his defense, people complained about lavine derozan and vucevic defense as well and somehow a roster with those 3 ended up top 5 in the league in defense. Maybe we can get the best out of him.

Ofcourse they are that’s why they applied for it in the first place lol. I know a lot of you were skeptical on if they would and I get it since we are dealing with cheap Jerry.

He's not a good 3-point shooter though.
People need to re-calibrate on that.
A 35-36% 3-point attempt is bad offense these days.

Re: Bulls threat to sign Christian Wood
a slightly below average 3pt shooter is still a positive addition on a team that lacks 3pt shooting, probably
