Nobody else wants him. The Rockets preferred to give Fred VanVleet 40+ a year. The secret is out.

Norman Powell
Terance Mann
Kenyon Martin
rights to Kobe Brown
That adds up to over $30m. Throw in some pick swaps and I'd do the deal.
I don't feel the need to get a star in return for Harden because his age, intangibles, and playoff play are all garbage so let's not all kid ourselves.

Yea, but his ideal situation is probably right here in Philly is what I meant, so why try to force your way to LA other than the weather is nice and you're from that general area? He'd probably also get the most amount of money from Philly moving forward. The whole thing is stupid.
New York made contact with the Chicago Bulls about their shooting guard, Zach LaVine, but the asking price for the two-time All-Star was “giant,” as one league source told The Athletic, which is exactly why LaVine remains in Chicago. The Knicks and Bulls, according to league sources, never got close.

I LOVE his attempt to get a star mate for Embiid while keeping Maxey.
I just think his list is a little different this time.
Jaylen Brown, Ingram, Siakam and others. Guys under 30 in prime.
I would hate a Harden trade for a meh role players from Clippers. Not a title team. Not even close. And Powell + Mann are taking away 2024 summer flexibility Morey’s talking about.
Hyland + unprotected picks + expirings is a complete different story.

Please tell me how you expect to get a Jaylen Brown, BI or Siakum with the assets we currently have. We’re not getting a bunch back for Harden in order to get one of them because nobody wants him and well… he sucks.
I agree that we shouldn’t take on the contract of Powell though. Mann is only signed for 2 more years at a very decent number, that’s not a bad contract at all that can be moved if need be. Mann, some expirings, maybe a prospect and a pick or two is fair and if Morey were to reject hoping for some godfather offer he should be fired immediately. I don’t think it’s being offered though.

1. Jaylen Brown has yet to sign a super-max extension. With Celtics. If he won’t, we can sing him as FA in 2024.
2. Pascal Siakam is a FA in 2024. We can sing him with cap space.
3. Brandon Ingram will enter his contact year in the summer of 2024 with no intention to sign witn NO. we can trade assets for him using picks and cap space.

1. JB is resigning in Boston any day now
2. I suppose this is possible, although his relationship with Nurse is shakey. We’ve also never been a destination for any big name FA ever
3. This is complete and total conjecture and not worth basing a long term plan around

Agreed.
But that’s just three players I mentioned. I would much rather star hunt then settle for Powell + meh.

I get it, but you need ammo to hunt.

That’s not a fair return for Harden?

Seems to me that we have enough sample size that something in his body will breakdown when he go past 65 games.
