Cole is the second best guard on the team, Harris and Suggs are being benched before him.

Also, expect to see some lineups with Black-guard-Franz-Wendell-Goga.

Black's size is an asset on defense, guy looked literally the same size as Jett.

I suspect some of y'all are going to be very surprised and perhaps disappointed when Anthony (if he isn't traded before the season) is playing 25 MPG as the primary 6th man when the season starts.

They're not going to straight bench him after he did so well in that 6th man role last season. It's just not happening.

I'll be flat out shocked if that happens in conjunction with Black getting DNPs. If that happens and Black gets minutes backing up the two and three I'll be mildly disappointed. If Cole doesn't get traded by the trade deadline I'll be flat out flabbergasted. But I think there's an 80% chance that Black is better than Cole right out the gate and that Cole is traded by the trade deadline.

2 years older but nice try. Hawkins averaged 12.8 points per game while shooting 25 percent from beyond the arc. He also contributed 5.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.8 steals per game. Overall he scored 64 points, notched 26 rebounds, 11 assists and nine steals for the Pelicans. 7.2 3s per game! He demanded attention. Black shot 2 3s per game and his 3PT% was .167. Don't talk to me about ugly.

Hawkins is nowhere as good as Black. They gave Hawkins a lot of opportunities because he's older and they wasted a pick on him.

Yeah but Black was picked 5th overall. Different expectations. I hope Black works out. I just have doubts. You seem to be taking this personal. Relax, I'm not bashing you.

When a team drafts a 23 year old shooter, they expect him to be able to shoot right away. When a team drafts a 19 year old they expect them to develop for a couple of years before they are a plus player.

Hawkins isn't 23 but 21, AB turns 20 in January. So age gap is year and 9 months.

I still don't understand where some of you think Magic will be able to keep active rotation of Fultz, Suggs, Cole, Harris, Black, Franz, Banchero, Isaac, Wendell, Wagner senior, Jett, Ingles without at least 2, but probably 3 of them being either 8-10 mpg bodies or full blown DNP- CD guys.

Also if you want Banchero and Franz to be allstar players, for damn sure there won't be much usage left for all the others to average fatty numbers.

Thing is though that Black doesn't have the athleticism or handle that Fultz has, so I can't give him that upside comp. MCW is more what I'm thinking. MCW won ROY so hey, not being a total hater today.

I would be anything that there will be better players that come out of this draft taken after Black. The homer in me is trying to enjoy Howard, but his athleticsm stinks.

Here's his pre-draft vibe:

Strengths: High level passing ability … Tremendous length and height for his position combined with a high basketball IQ. Carter-Williams is a gifted athlete … He has the ability to handle the ball well for his size … Possesses the skill to burst through a first line of defenders, with a deceptive first step … Can turn a broken play into points with an outstanding ability to find the open man … Solid competitor … Rebounds the ball very well for a player at his position…Defensively, his length allows him to create turnovers at a high rate… Ignites the fast break, finding streaking teammates for easy dunks, trailing shooters, or finishes at the rim on his own, MCW can be a handful for opposing defenders … Was able to dominate running Boeheim’s offense at times, getting the ball to shooters in their spots, as well as lead the fast break, and create shots for himself … A true ball hawk with excellent anticipation and reflexes put him into the top 10 in steals …

Overall: With his vision, speed, and ball handling ability, Carter-Williams possesses uncommon PG tools … Proving that he can be a leader night-in and night-out is something NBA teams will need to see if they are to turn the keys of an offense over to him …

It appears that the Magic brass are essentially banking on Banchero and Franz developing into all star players. If they don't do that and their development stops short, then we are probably screwed and forced to continue this never ending rebuild.

Black looked miles away in Summer League. He needs a good jumpshot first and foremost. But his shot looks really bad at the moment. Did we take a project point guard with the sixth pick?

Jett looked alright but looked like just a rotation player-shooting specialist. Are we sure that was the best use of a lottery pick?
