In all fairness, the Bucks NEEDED that two way spot for NBA legend Wigginton.

To be completely candid, the Bucks NEEDED the roster spot just ahead of Wigginton's two-way for other roster spots, who never saw the postseason floor despite earning the #1 seed.

Gotta wonder how many Reeves are out there just not getting any play time. Could be 1000's, we will never know

If you had told me on July 20, 2021 that in 2 years coach Bud would be fired and gone.

I would have believed it.

How many dudes are out there who are good enough to play in the NBA, but just never got the opportunity for whatever reason. That's always been a curious thought of mine. I'm not even talking about guys who are on NBA rosters and not getting playing time, but guys who are working regular jobs who could play in the league if they were given a chance.

It's probably not a ton of guys, but probably more than people think.

One of the all-time examples of this, different sport, is Kurt Warner. In one year he went from bagging groceries to winning NFL league & Super Bowl MVP. And he only got his opportunity to get a shot with the Ram's because he knew a guy who knew a guy who knew Dick Vermeil.

I don't think you can find that many guys that can play on ball the way Austin Reaves did during the playoffs. He's pretty good.

That's why I'm all for expansion.

There could be tons of Joe Alexanders out there!

He was probably gone if they lose that Nets series. His refusal to make an adjustments while KD was single-handedly winning game five was almost the nail in the coffin for him.

But PJ Tucker gave a speech and guarded KD that whole game?

I'm so confused.

KD did torch Tucker but most of KD’s points during that massive fourth quarter comeback in game five were because the Nets spammed the high PnR with Brook’s man and Brook was dropping back so KD was just walking into whatever shot he wanted and when Brook tried to drop not quite as deep, KD got to the rim with ease.

Same game where no one on the Nets besides KD and Jeff Green could hit a shot if I am remembering correctly.

Bud really should have put Giannis at the 5 in the fourth and then aggressively trapped the high PnR to get the ball out of KD’s hands. No one else was getting them back from down 15+. Harden couldn’t run. Kyrie was out. Just get the ball out of KD’s hands and don’t let Jeff Green shoot open threes and the Bucks win game five by double digits.

The Bucks players basically won five straight that series but Bud sabotaged game five himself.

Bud did make some nice adjustments in game six. And game seven they won one of those classic grind games they are so good at. Helped that regular season Jrue randomly showed up late in the fourth quarter of game seven after playoff Jrue was there for the first 44 minutes.

The most controversing basketball strategy I have ever seen in sports .... The "Let It Fly" strategy "from no Good 3p SHOOTERS" ... what a headcase he was, we lucky we even got one ring.

Probably the reason we swept Miami on our ring year is Bryn Forbes baby sitting Jimmy Butler on how a player must shoot the ball.

I think this was the plan with Livingston as well

Reaves was an old-ass rookie and bottom tier NBA athlete who up until this past season, couldn't shoot the 3-ball pretty much at all (sub-30% at Oklahoma). AKA, the exact kind of player that most people here wanted to desperately avoid lol ("we need to get younger, more athletic, and better shooters").

Yeah that’s not true really. I think if you go back and look at draft threads we’ve advocated for good players regardless of age. In general you look at the super young yet super athletic in the lottery. In the late first and second round it becomes more about bpa and guys with the most tools etc. many of us were all over Brogdon and Bane, etc. this year Andre Jackson, Kobe Brown, and Omari Moore.

I'm not saying that the organization shouldn't be constantly looking at any and all means to mine the fringes of NBA talent for guys that may turn into useful rotation players. I'm saying that Austin Reaves is about as poor of an example as one could use for the "how did we not nab and develop this guy?" hindsight argument.

I think there are diminishing returns with some of these fringe players. Between better scouting, Gleague, expanding rosters, etc you probably have to spend an insane amount of resources finding the hidden gem and then coaching them. AR is one of the few that broke through but still is probably a borderline starter whose 25. I'm not entirely sure Reeves season last year is sustainable and if he is a full time starter in his prime. Granted Jevon is 3 years older and has more physical limitations, but how hyped up would he have been playing 30 min a game replacing the disastrous RwB situation and coming in shooting 43% from 3 with hustle D playing in LA?

Main focus should be managing assets (getting huge returns on 1sts, buying early 2nds), being ready and recruiting big names when they become available, convincing ring chasers, etc are all more important in getting a championship team. Not saying we can't do both, but I think our failures have been mostly due to these things.

I like Wes but I also like that he's moving on. Obviously no contender was interested

Feels kinda bad. Would much rather retain Wes than Thanasis. Obviously, that’s not a possibility but I’ve always wanted to get old man Wes a ring.

Wes was quick to ditch us last time for the Lakers. Then we won it all. Then he came back then we fizzed out.

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
