Seems like their thing is more hands off, which is probably still an upgrade if it means Kotick is out.

gestures vaguely towards the last 10 years of microsoft first party games

I'm not so sure.

I've heard Sea of Thieves has become quite good. In any case, this is more about Kotick. I play the other franchises every now and then but don't follow them too closely these days, but the Overwatch team I think has generally put out good content. There's just a long history of fights with upper management about some of the monetization stuff and Kotick making them do certain things like shifting their focus onto a battle royale mode that never saw the light of day when that was all the rage. One of the producers on OW2 that left a couple years ago for Riot called him out on twitter after she left as being one of the biggest reasons people cited for leaving the company.

Read on Twitter

Not to mention allegedly threatening to have a female employee killed and burying many of the harassment and rape allegations at ActiBlizz. Of course, assuming the merger actually does happen, it would take some time to really make a difference in the direction of things, but Kotick is a POS and him being gone would only be a good thing if that were to eventually happen.

Halo Infinite

Call me crazy, but I enjoy the Halo Infinite online multiplayer. Won't go into detail about the single player and coop debacle, as I never expected much from them. But I've got over 100 hours on the multiplayer.

Also, Microsoft is about to buy Blizzard, so hopefully getting it out of Activision's hands will be a good thing.

Microsoft killing 2x game of the year RTS franchise Myth: The Fallen Lords & Myth II: Soulblighter over rights to the Halo series will never not be a sore point for me.

The gaming world needs Myth IV.

This seriously looks **** awesome. There's no way I play in 2023, but excited to play it down the road.

This game wasn’t on my radar at all and isn’t usually my genre of choice but this looks pretty effing cool. Might see if my buddies that are a lot more into this type of game are interested.

I bounced off the first Remnant. Just felt a little underdeveloped. Remnant 2 looks like it fixed everything that didn't feel right. Might have to pick it up.

I wasn't a fan of the boss fights. I distinctly remember constantly having to dodge stupid little minions with the boss also chasing me. Possible skill issue on my end, though :D

For those of you gullible like me and got sucked into the more expensive D4 editions - be careful if you decide you want to mess around this league but planned to save your battle pass. If you're on PC, your mouse will snap to the button to redeem your battle pass when you open the season journey window, and there's no confirmation upon click.

Yeah Blizzard can **** all of the way off.

Also apparently that purchase button is the default button when you first go into the battlepass with a controller. I tried it out on PC and the cursor didn't snap at all for me with mouse, but I also don't have any premium currency. Not having a confirmation button on that purchase is wild. I think even Diablo Immortal asks you to confirm purchases. If it affects enough people I wouldn't be surprised if someone tries to create a lawsuit.

Epic pulled that **** with fortnite if i remember correctly. They got sued for like 520 million think it was more related to children though. Not sure if they have that excuse for Diablo.. Hopefully Blizzard gets sued for everything.

Correct. Thinking about it more though, while it's obviously scummy I wonder if legally Blizzard is in the clear if there's a popup to confirm the initial purchase of the premium currency. I don't really know the details of the Fortnite case. Still crazy to not have a confirmation of purchases.

Did you get far into the first? It was one of my favorite games from that year, but the first world you start out on was unfortunately the worst which gave a lot of people a bad impression.

Didn't get out of the first world. Ran into a boss I spent a lot of time on and hit a wall. Ditched it.

Yep. Your experience was common, unfortunately. The first game was a gem, but I can understand why people dropped it early. They did a terrible job with the first world and the first bosses.

I'd guess you'll love Remnant 2. You may have even loved the first if not for the terrible first impression.

Thanks, I didn't know that was a thing. I'm gonna give the 2nd a shot. The Expanse and Atlas Fallen were the only other games I was thinking about between now and Armored Core. Remnant 2 looks like a beefy game to get into for the next few weeks.

I couldn't help it any longer and have played beyond 1 hour in the BG3 EA. Last time I did was two years ago on initial release. I wanted to try out a bard build (it's a **** blast as expected).

This 2-month old EA build of a partial first act is better - to me, mind you - than anything I've played this year aside from TotK.

Yeah I went back yesterday and started a paladin run and was having a blast as expected. Bugs, EA, etc be damned.

I thought it was fantastic in 2020 when it first dropped in early access. It’s very likely going to be my game of the year, which says a lot when it’s over the RE4 remake, Street Fighter 6, and Tears of the Kingdom. I even booked some time off around that weekend so I can play a bunch and watch Evo.

I'm out of the country from release until October so will be patiently waiting. Gonna have a couple months of game detox and hopefully can fully enjoy it.

Was looking for a time waster so I got back into Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Haven't played it in two years. Was having a solid time until I decided to do some DLC that involved platforming in five tombs for specific gear. I spent five nights on this awful **** and in the end I'm not sure any of the gear was worth it. I'm gonna need to put in work for materials just so the sword at the end of the quest is even viable.

That said, even though the tombs were legitimately awful, the rest of the game is pretty great.
