Finch said it was important during free agency for the team to maintain a path for Minott to carve out a role this season.

He has a good chance to get real playing time.

NAW has been inconsistent during his career and Milton/Brown Jr could out play him which really opens up minutes at the 3/4 [NAW can play up to the 3 but I don't see either Milton/Brown Jr playing up].

Towns/Gobert/SlowMo/Jaden/Reid is a lot of players to eat minutes at the 3/4/5 but injuries and defensive need could lead to Minott minutes.

I see Minott as the 11th guy going into the season. At the moment I'd have NAW replacing the McLaughlin/Rivers minutes, Milton replacing the Nowell minutes, and Brown getting the Prince minutes (likely a reduced role). Minott seems likely to be the guy who gets rotation minutes anytime one of the top 10 is out. Over the course of the season that could add up to a fairly significant number of minutes and gives Josh the chance to prove that he deserves a bigger role.

I think that’s a pretty safe assessment

I'm starting to see a little bit more of the Corey Brewer comparison. I think he's still capable of more, but that seems like a pretty easy level for him to reach.

By the way, I don't think I ever saw this comment from HOFer Larry Brown during last draft cycle...

“If you draft him, he’ll be like a lottery pick in two years,” Brown said. “He’s young, long, athletic quick. He’s just got to grow and get better. He grew 2 inches when I was there. He’s that high-twitch athlete. So many NBA people have called me about him. A couple of years, you might have a diamond.’’

Where exactly he can fit into a rotation remains to be seen. Jaden McDaniels and Karl-Anthony Towns are the starters at small forward and power forward, respectively and will play a ton of minutes. Prince averaged more than 22 minutes per game in a reserve role last season, which opens up a real hole to fill on the bench. Naz Reid, fresh off his new $42-million contract, will be the primary backup at power forward. Coach Chris Finch also has trusted vet Kyle Anderson, Brown and Milton as players who can see time at small forward.

Minott is trying to use Vegas to show that he knows what he can do well and how he can fit in to a team that expects to be in the playoffs next season.

“It’s a business overall. They’re not trying to see me come down and jack five 3s,” Minott said. “They’re trying to see me come down and lock up their best player and stuff like that, cut, a lot of off-ball actions, screening, rolling, slipping, being able to knock down a corner 3 if need be. Overall, in terms of what I can do, it’s whatever a team’s missing.”

Finally a decent comp. I kind of like the Corey Brewer comp. Neither guy can shoot. With coaching maybe Minott can improve his stroke.

I'll never forget Cory putting up 50 pts one night for us. Amazing. He was a great guy.

And he always said....

I was expecting much more from him in defense. In theory he is a switchable versatile defender who can defend rim and on perimeter. In SL he was not playing high quality defense, he was not particularly good at closing our shooters on perimeter, he could not stay in front of quick guards and he didn't protect the rim consistently as weak side defender. Part of it was team issue because Trevion Williams as starting big was awful. But Minott also should pay more attention to details and defensive foundamentals. He had a few very good moments as cutter, rim running big, he was able to score in straight line drives with right hand, but he should work on his basketball skills and awareness.

Was always a Corey Brewer fan … he was an awkward-long armed albatross-wild card every night !!

I’m not really seeing the comparison with Minott

Minott walked in that clip. Three steps. Didn’t dribble inside of five feet behind the arc. He really is Corey Brewer.

Not by NBA rules. Gather step.

I couldn't agree more. Minott has a long way to go bit he's worth being patient with. There is no hurry with him.

Agree to disagree.

Even with the gather step he still travelled. He took three steps AFTER the gather. Refs don’t call it—just like Brewer’s 13 step travel.

Trey Murphy looks like the real deal and also makes Josh look like a twig standing next to him. Like others have said, I don't see Josh breaking the rotation unless we have multiple injuries. This is just another bad drafting by Kahnnelly.

Love seeing the vet talk so glowingly about him.

Minott, Miller and of course Luka were all awesome against the Israeli team. Does that mean anything.

Adding a little more context, that is a team in the Second division (below the super league) in Israel on a back to back night. Maybe tonight's game is a better indicator. He may get some minuted with JMcD's continue contract holdout :D
