It’s only a matter of time before these LED floors make their way to the NBA. I give it 2 years.

There was a thread about the imbalance of 3 point shooting and how you could possibly address it to make them a bit less prevalent.

My idea was to have the court partitioned into zones with given colors / point totals.

Over the course of a game the value of these zones would change dynamically; based on the number of field goals already made there. Zones with higher frequency of fgs would lessen in value while ones neglected would increase.

It was meant as a fun gimmick to try but would require a court like above to implement. I thought it would be a long ways off....

The in-game aspect of it (graphics, animations, etc) could add a level of entertainment to games.

And marketing/advertising opportunities would increase dramatically.

I wonder, however, if these floors would be more of a slip hazard than their wooden counterparts.

I think it would be distracting and could well be a detriment to the overall experience of the game. And as mentioned above, would probably be overrun with advertising.

Keep it simple.

Think it's only a matter of time until courts are covered with advertising tbh

Will be a sad day when that happens

And I here I thought this was going to be a post about the Pistons finally getting smart and bringing back their classic court design instead of whatever that junk they've been using the last 2 years is.

Not a fan, I prefer the traditional wooden parquet. Also it seems like innovation doesn't care about ecology. That type of digital glass floor is against every bit of green thinking.
