The picks the Knicks have are trash. They do not have the assets to get him. Just reiterating in the hope that maybe it gets picked up by the aggregators.

It's the natural fit for Joel but it's never going to happen. They can keep dreaming, like they have been since Ewing left.

Knicks are gonna have to hope Grimes takes a leap this year if they want to be involved in a superstar trade. He's the only player on their roster with the potential to be the centerpiece of a package. RJ is a negative asset on that contract & nobody wants Randle.

If Embiid were to become available, I could see OKC coming in with a godfather offer to pair Embiid with SGA & Chet.

Do you try to trade them now or do you wait and see if they become good players in year 3?

In the era of obligation rookie max extensions of any player with a pulse, it might be shrewd to bail early if you think the player "ain't it."

Not totally untouchable and not totally wait and see, but leaning towards more on wait and see.

I think there are alternative paths in winning without a generational superstar in today which i find what most young teams are trying to do now.

Imagine if social media existed back in the mid-2000's and someone posted a tweet saying Samuel Dalembert has been in the lab and is looking to be more selfish this upcoming season.

Dosunmu gets a $21M 3 yr deal to return to Chicago.

Great, great deal for the Bulls.

Yeah, nowadays they tweet about everything including how many times you go to the toilet per day.

People dont realize that once you try to play a bigger role on offense, you’ll have less energy to play defense. And thats why we are seeing guys like Mikal Bridges or Marcus Smart decline on defense. But you dont get paid if you’re being viewed with defense as your primary value.

Agreed. That's a solid player on a cheap contract.

I'm glad he didn't sign with the Raptors.

https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/celtics-jaylen-brown-to-renew-discussions-on-potential-richest-contract-in-nba-history-next-week-per-report/

$304 million. Brown is a very good second banana, but c'mon. The Celtics do this and they're done, stuck with Brown and Tatum and little else for the foreseeable future. This is exactly the kind of deal that smart teams are going to avoid like the plague moving forward.

As soon as Brown signs that deal, he's going to start waiving off Tatum lol.

So they’re supposed to not sign Brown? Then what?

True. But I mean, they’ve gone deep in the playoffs including a Finals birth just about every year with that core. Don’t really see another realistic option.

Honestly I like the idea of dammed if you do. Would be great to watch them struggle for more years trying to make Tatum and Brown work. My misery needs some company.

BOS are a prime example why star hunting isn't an automatic path to a title. Yes these are two drafted superstars, but chemistry, roster construction, and player roles matter.

Let him go to FA next summer and hope no other team signs him. If it works they get him for less. If it doesn't work they lose him.

But having Jaylen Brown on the books for $60M/yr would be a killer. He's just not that good.

It's pretty dangerous to let an UFA hit the market, no? This isn't a scenario where they can just match a competitive offer.

There's also the question of how much tax Boston wants to pay. Signing Brown to that monstrosity virtually guarantees 5 straight years in the tax.
