Yea that's the thing, people cry about how overpriced Brown's contract is but every player is about to be overpaid so it evens out.

Tatum is going to have the richest contract in NBA history next year and so on, and so on.

The unanimous positive thing about this deal should be that it will cover Jaylen's age 27-32 seasons. No years where he has a risk of falling off a cliff (barring major injury, knock on wood). He's locked through his prime

As expected Jaylen not leaving a dime on the table. The good thing is about this is when he asks out in the offseason it should be around the same time that Embiid or Luka might have that conversation with their teams.

Then again if you're the Hawks or one of the teams in LA or NY the clock starts ticking today.

Jaylen Brown is not asking out. That's a RealGM myth. Celtics could trade him though.

They're betting that JT/JB/KP can take us to the promised land (or can be traded for players that will). I see it as a gamble, but most of their careers so far make me thing the Jay's have in in them. We'll see.

There was talk last year at various times that he was interested in Atlanta NY LA and Miami. Don't be so sure about that.

That's a good point, it's possible the team has the two highest contracts in NBA history for a minute if he signs before Giannis the year following, that probably will be the next "biggest in history" if he gets five years.

Though I'm not sure I'd like that deal at all for Giannis at ages 31-35, seems more than a little risky at that point.

Hmm, is that a positive or negative? Won't the Trade Kicker make it more difficult to trade Jaylen?

Those three backed up by D. White/Al/Rob/Brogdon is getting slept on imo. This team will be really really good.

Bobby Marks @BobbyMarks42

Here’s what Boston could be on the hook for if the salary cap jumps 10% over the next 2 seasons: Jaylen Brown $304M (starts in 24-25) Jayson Tatum $338M (starts in 25-26)

and guess what? Neither one of them are worth those contracts. NBA contracts have nothing to do with what a player is worth!

Personally I'm fine with both Brown and Tatum getting paid.

Yeah, good catch. Prob closer to the original 295 number I'd guess.

I might be wrong, but that might be more about the cap than it is incentives. His deal can be 35% of the cap next year and get 8% raises from there. The cap isn't set though. The $305M number is based on the maximum 10% increase the cap can go up by. The $295M numbers that were floating around earlier were based on the more tempered projection that websites and reporters are using.

Maybe incentives are in the deal, but my guess is it's a straight supermax and the "up to" just refers to salary cap fluctuations.
156-1 Celtics are frauds when pressure is put on them. They would have been toast if Luka was not stupid enough to foul himself out. Enjoy this ONE finals win. There will never be another with the Js and the Celtics cant afford stacked team.
Not fully versed on how trade kickers work in the new CBA, but I'm pretty sure the team trading a player away pays it. So it would make it more expensive for us to trade him, but not sure how much it hurts his value to the other side, if that makes sense.
